If they were to trade Cloke for Hogan, that would be a very helpful indication that the "contending in 2017" noises are not serious and might save many of us the cost of next year's membership.

It would be 2018 not 17 when Hogan came on board. Razz

Eddie was spouting all sorts of crap. Witts is huge, wait till see this guy etc etc

Witts hasn't progressed in the last couple of years, unfortunately.

Trade bait!

^^^ I expect you're right. I actually think Hogan's been pretty ordinary this year and was just responding lazily to something I read on here (this thread/another thread - who knows?) that suggested it might be a good idea to swap Hogan for Cloke.

Its amazing the different standards some players have, at least some posters have seen some sense but the facts will be ignored...

Potato - potato; tomato - tomato.... of course loses a bit in written form, like most of your posts.

Witts wanted to stay with us. There was a lot of talk going round that we'd trade or delist him last year but he put his head out and said how much he wanted to remain at the club. At the moment I'm yet to be convinced by him and don't think he offers us a great deal in terms of a ruckman who is capable of a) rucking effectively and b) being a presence up forward and around the ground. How much longer will we persevere with him I wonder? I suspect we'll trade him if Cox develops and takes over and Grundy starts to emerge. Those two will be our set up with Witts left to linger in the vfl. He's back up at the moment and would need to earn his spot back.

I'd be shocked if we traded Cloke, I really would. But then again, stranger things have happened. Unless all communication breaks down between him and Buck's and the team then I'd imagine that he'd work hard to try and win his spot back.

His contract is on hold I think... I don't know if he requested that or if we are putting it off. I expect that he'll finish his career with us but he needs to get his shit together. From what I hear, he's not enjoying playing footy. Send him on a holiday for a couple of weeks overseas. Let him clear his head and come back refreshed for the second half of the season. He's not going to gain much from playing in a vfl team that's depleted and getting thrashed every week.

He's still our main key power forward.

I still think Witts can reach greater heights [excuse the pun], to the point where he should challenge Grundy for #1 status. Of course, in my mind Gundy doesn't really tick every box either at the moment & not sure he ever will.

The easiest way Witts could instantly improve would be to play angry. I know many people will tell you that 'angriness' can't be taught. However, I'm sure it can be prescribed!!.... DO IT!!!!!!

Strange things do happen... after the 2010 grand final I would have been shocked at the idea of trading Heath Shaw or Harry. Some posters on here still seem to be shocked that we traded them! If the club thinks that Cloke's asking price is too high for his next contract, I'm almost certain they would trade him in an instant.

Silly thread, both are required players, and you sure as hell dont give away future monsters like Witts, if the piss and poop got him, hed become a star, and dominate us for years. !

I'm reasonably sure Witts will never become a monster to dominate us. If Witts is a project player, its a really long term project, since he has been training with us for ten years, as part of the nsw academy.

by all means, we can keep Witts as a backup ruckman, but you could also draft any number of backup ruckmen like him every year.

Witts has given us nothing in the last 4 games.

As usual a distinct lack of patience, especially with bigger players as VFL/AFL history very clearly shows.
However these "perceptive fellow" know it all so their points are always correct, especially to themselves... Twisted Evil Razz
