Blair, Aish, Toovey, Maynard with Sinclair to travel as the +1

goodyear would be my +1 cover.

Sinclair has a few credits over Goodyear.

I would love Cloke to be out there, but it's not to be, so just have to wait another week at least to learn he has got back in. Glad that two runners in Goodyear and Broomhead have made the squad, but doubt they will play. Would have thought that Toovey will play as Darling would be his direct opponent. Langdon takes over from Maynard and assume Aish holds his spot with Varcoe out injured.

that's why he (sinkers) will be named on the bench. they don't play the same position so not competing against one another. goodyear may come in for aish.

No other changes judging from the IC....slightly surprised Cloke didn't get a recall, doesn't bode well for old mate

Langdon already named in the BP doesn't sway you?

A fair point well made...didn't see his name there. In any case, still surprised Cloke is out for another week, particularly since its a trip to Perth.

If we were playing the blues this week I could see how we could get away without his experience and class....to paraphrase Briggs, it is what it is cuz, it is what it is

Hmm, we can have 4 outs and 3 ins from last week's team Confused Or am I missing something?

Langdon and Sinclair are certain ins. Then there's Broomhead who was ordinary in the VFL but is a player we definitely like and should now be fit enough. Aish has been underwhelming so I think Broomhead sneaks in ahead of him. Maynard has been in and out this year and has made mistakes in each game and not really done anything else of note. As he was a late replacement last week, I think he goes out with Langdon taking his place.

So, I see the bench as:

Sinclair, Broomhead, Blair, Toovey

in: Sinclair, Langdon, Broomhead
out: Maynard, Aish, Varcoe

It's a stronger team while keeping the same shape as last week's with all replacements being similar types: Sinclair for Varcoe, Langdon for Maynard and Broomhead for Aish.

Which Trav? hehe.

Varcoe is a really good chance to play next week versus the Blues, although will depend how he trains leading into it.

Cloke needs a big VFL game to push his way back in, would like to see him against that weak excuse for a Carlton backline though next week.

our man cloke. you knew as to whom i was referring to. Wink

teams not finalised until 5pm tomorrow. Current squad is 25 players as per usual, with 3 to be trimmed tomorrow arvo. Only one confirmed out.

FWIW I doubt Trav will be back next week, even if he rips the Blues a new one in the VFL this weekend. Just don't think one decent game gets him back in. Needs to show he's got the desire again. Who knows, may not happen.

^^Yep three to be trimmed, my guess: Aish, Maynard, Goodyear.

The ins/outs above relate to last weeks team.

I don't think Medhurst, Lockyer or O'Bree see the humour either....

Once dropped, Cloke was always going to miss 2-3 games so I wouldn't read too much into it.

On 360 Monday night Buckley literally said Cloke would miss a "FEW" games and would have to show he was a dominant reserves player to earn his spot back.2 goals and 7 possessions isn't exactly ripping the two's apart.

That Eagle's forward line looks pretty potent. I know they rotate but the interesting duels for me will be:

Grundy & Cox v Naitanui & Lycett

Greenwood v Pridis

But who gets Kennedy? Reid has the class but if he has his hands full with him he won't be free to peel off and take those intercept marks. As for Darling doesn't Toovey have a pretty good record on him?

Yes, Toovey gets first crack at Darling - whether he can still do the job is another question but Brown and Reid are too slow to keep with him.

Whole team looks potent.

Darling is only 191 which was why Tooves was always a good match but you'd have to wonder has he now got enough preseasons under his belt now to be too powerful for Tooves. Still wouldn't surprise to see Tooves or Langdon given first crack but I think it more likely Frost & Brown will take Darling & Kennedy leaving Reid to keep an eye on Lycett.

Alternatively, as we've only got 2x talls in our F50, will that free McGovern up to play more mid-forward, relying on MacKenzie and Schofield to mind Moore and Cox.
