Varcoe was injury prone at the Cats. Missed a lot of games, played 138 out of a possible 190 odd.

Yeah clearly the fault of the fitness crew... Should have had an extra week before he came back... oh wait, he did... and played a full game last week...

Maybe we should just put him on ice till 2017, just not worth risking another hammy injury.

Interesting how Cyril's hamstrings have come good.
I mean the Hawks changed his running style, changed his work on the different muscle groups, etc....
Getting repeat hammies is the issue with the fitness guys!
To think it is just all bad luck is crap.

Agree. Hawthorn modified Cyril's training to include more uphill speed running which strengthens the glutes and thighs. Seems to have done the trick.
Anyway, we can only guess as to what analysis and methods Davoren puts in place for injury prevention. The club certainly doesn't convey any of these details to the media.

Cyril had a prolonged history of very serious hamstring injuries, Varcoe has just had his 2nd minor strain so hardly a relevant comparison.

So just tightness JW. Good to hear that the club was conservative.

You'd think the club will be conservative & he will miss one & be right for the Carlton match the following week if that's the case.

If he's even a little bit tight this week no point in sending him west. He could then take a break against carlscum and Brions give him 3 weeks to be 100% to attack second half of the season

There was a notable lack of ice being applied; you would imagine he would have been iced up if the tear was confirmed

Maybe Varcoe is THAT cool, he doesn't need to, Mon.
