Any team with Cloke in it fails (just look at our VFL team this weekend).

He is cancer, disliked by the rest of the playing group.

When he's omitted the rest of the team lifts and play to win, put him back in and team spirit is poisoned.

Huh???

We've been on a downwards spiral since his contract negotiations a few years back.....I think the idea has merit

Oh dear the sack Buckley brigade will have to wait another week

We won and played some players into form hint Adams DeGoey Greenwood Toovey
Crisp was poor not sure about Howe

Cox did well for a first gamer want to see how he goes against a decent defender and in the wet
Pendles looks over his rib injuries
Varcoe **** hamstring
Sidey was very good and showed leadership
Frost did well
Smith did OK for a first gamer
Reid was great getting better every game

Yep, why does it take us to be in crisis for the players to respond. That's the bit that has me perplexed.

That assumes we were actually in a crisis rather than just playing below expectations. I haven't heard anyone from the club using the word crisis, just a few footy forum posters and some media looking for something more than exists.

We contested well without Cloke and Cox gave a good effort in the air and on the ground.
How does Cloke deserve a game next week?

My only real disappointment was Aish. I just can't see why we pursued him. I wonder if he had a different surname whether he'd have been drafted by anyone. He's just way too hesitant to play senior footy. I'll reserve judgement on Howe. He showed a bit, but needs to show a lot more. Losing Varcoe is dreadful as we don't have another player of his ilk. Maybe Broomhead and Wills will come in next week.

I don't think today was a response to crisis. We've been slowly building since our worst game in round 1.

It was a very good win. Sure, only Essendon but that is their biggest loss for the year and the first half was brilliant footy. Mentioned in the pre-game that they won't be as bad as the worst teams in recent seasons as they are not young or inexperienced. They'll be competitive, so that first half was great and certainly better than expected.

For Smith to get as much of the ball as he did on debut is terrific, though he did make a number of mistakes. Cox did a couple of things, enough to show that he's a chance to be an AFL player. Sidebttom's first half was near perfect, Pendlebury back in the middle and back to somewhere near his best.

The big one for me was Adams. This is the Adams we want to see: 36 disposals, 14 of them contested after only 4 last week. Need him in tight winning the ball, not on the outside. Still didn't see enough of him in the centre square, but this was his best game of the season by a mile.

Actually thought Adams might have snagged the medal but can completely understand why Sidebottom was preferred.

Just because no one uses the word, doesn't mean it isn't true. Many teams don't mention finals but we all know they are striving to be a part of them.

Fantastic win - fantastic first half. Not sure what happened after half time, but Essendon played better. Very Interested if this win was a one off or whether we can bring that game to Perth next weekend. A very tough road trip especially without Varcoe

He doesn't really. To bring him back in would defeat the purpose of dropping him in the first place.
