Scattergun approach from selection committee. I have no faith in them. Dropping him against a sub standard defence? Seriously? Could have been an opportunity for him to get some form back on the seniors. Things are getting laughable.

Utter idiocy from Suckley. The end is nigh.
If we get rolled Monday, then come 5pm, this forum will see a blood bath of unprecedented proportions.
I wouldn't be here then waving a lollypop around, that's for sure.

Good article by Glen mcFarlane in the Hun.

Quote:
TRAVIS Cloke is playing as if he is in a fog of fear and that can only lift if some of the pressure is released from one of the most scrutinised players in the AFL.

That’s why he will be playing in front of around 1000 fans at Victoria Park on Sunday with the Magpies VFL side instead of a predicted 90,000 against Essendon on Anzac Day — the same stage that he debuted on 11 years ago.

Four years ago, he was one of the game’s most powerful forwards. On Sunday, the 29-year-old will be back playing in the secondary tier for the first time since he was a teenager.

The Magpies believe it is the only option to kickstart his career again that has stalled over the past three seasons, and to help him as a person they know and love.

For just as Kryptonite cruelled Superman, Cloke’s love-hate relationship with the thing he needs to do — kick goals — has sapped so much of his fragile confidence.

Just watched Travis Cloke suffer the indignity of being dragged to the bench in a game of park footy with an opponent wearing #84, whilst a yank that's played 20 odd games of footy in his life is about to take his place for our biggest game for 3 years.

Am I in an alternate universe??

Sounds like what has been happening to the first team.

So they have gone with Blair over Cloke - crazy stuff - Cloke has been getting possessions further up the ground and has been average to poor most weeks this year - but given the rest of the team's performance I think it is crazy to drop him.

It means Moore gets the best tall backman and Cox number 2… could have been a lot easier for both of them if Cloke was out there!

I'd have been expecting Cloke to dominate that VFL game today. He should be! He's damn well 196cm and 110 kegs.

Bit hard to dominate when the ball is not in the forward 50.

McCaffer - hardly touched it
Broomhead - not much impact
Sier - nice goal in the first
White - instructed to play on every time, so he takes it literally. You can imagine
Marsh - couple of nice runs, good contesting
Cloke - good in first, not much ball in the area in the 2nd
Golds - couple of ok things
Goodyear - ditto

all in all its a slog, we look like we are running in gumboots and the bombers have skates on. We are not finding space and whilst we are competing hard we are struggling.

They're just lucky they haven't had any issues affecting their depth over recent seasons.

Cam has summed up the VFL game to this point in a nutshell.

So 84 is Grima hey?? First game of footy for 12 months, my point does not change.

Yin Yang spot on.
Even if Cloke isn't getting a kick on the seniors, he makes it easier for those around him by drawing defenders.

Uh no... we're finding it hard to get the ball though, if that helps?
