Late goal to the Cats via Tom Stewart, capitalising from a Pies turnover...

Good win pies.
Thought we held our structures together all game.
I will give my thoughts later.
Really small crowd today.
Seen more at Woop Woop footy do.

Hi Guys, I went down today, however I didn't realise we were playing, until I heard Bucks on the radio, so I zoomed down to the Catery(only 10 mins) until 1/2 way through 2nd quarter, small but nice size crowd considering it was a practice match and the ground is under construction.
Really impressed with the pressure skills and apart from a few kicking to a player so much better than last night. We have a very good mosquito fleet in the twos, Blair, Willis, Borthwick ferguson, mathew smith all worked really hard and won most of the contested possessions. Really like Ash Close, cool under pressure, can mark and kick.
Now for senior players or players that are on the cusp.
Goldy, directed traffic cool under pressure, really not sure where he is at for senior selection but we certainly need some cool heads.
Jessie White, OMG what the hell with this guy, if he was never to use his brain we would have a player. He is remarkable around the ground taking great marks contested also, however when he has to dispose of the ball, he wouldn't even make it in div 3 teams. Every disposal was crap, never hit a target and as he was playing down back I can think of 3 instances where he made shocking skill errors. However if he plays on a crap player, could be the go in the seniors
Toovey, he has to come in, not because he has any better skills but he does the 1%'ers so well and cool when under pressure
Howe, not yet, to in and out, but nice mark, disposal after the mark the issue
Cox dying seconds of the game took a great mark, but still struggles when he has to go for a grab, along way off when it comes to reading the game
Sier will need the year to learn how to get into positions around the ground, often running around looking for his player. But boy there was one play where he just glided through the pack of players to come out the other side, can see the potential but not this year.
Maynard no
Goodyear nice work, but we have to many like him in the seniors
Crocker good contested marks and has a go, but rarely sighted
Marsh, hard at it but decision making crap
Tom philips, I am sure I only saw him in the last quarter and moves really well
Josh Smith saw loads of him in the 2nd quarter but after 1/2 time was in and out but nice decision making
BEST MY POV
Loved Jack blair, Matthew smith, Gus Borthwick really good, Ash Close but the best for me was Willis. Was in everything smashing packs, getting plenty of hard ball. His kicking lets him down, but just stood out today
The 2nds should do really well this year, plenty of teamwork, backing each other up, good skills (compared to the seniors) Pity they don't play more games down here at Geelong.

What's the deal with this Ash Close? On the CFC site they call him a Key Forward. Any idea about his age and height? _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

24/25 years old, 199cm, 84kg.
Very athletic, can take a grab. You'd like him... |

ta MB and WPT, sounds like one to keep an eye on. For someone so skinny he seems to have a fair crack at it. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

r u taking the widdle? he played for us (VFL) last year and some thought him a chance in the rookie draft. IIRC he is a statistician for the seniors so occasionally gets conflicted out. _________________ All We Can Be |

Chatted to his old man who was having a coffee at the Malmsbury bakery yesterday arvo on our way to the G. Said Crows and Bumbers were sniffing around pre-draft but ultimately he was overlooked. Tall skinny mobile and takes a nice grab but can tend to go missing for extended periods. |

Trotted down to sleepy hollow with a couple of kids.
Liked their set up and it will a great stadium when finished.
Very surprised with the low crowd turnout.
There were only a few people around the Pie players at 1/4 and 3/4 times.
Very hard to tell the players apart with similar jumpers..
It wasn't a great game with lots of mistakes.
As someone said Collingwood had a good mosquito fleet.
I couldn't concentrate because of the kids but I didn't think
the analysis of malteaser was the same as me.
Firstly, Iiked the set up with Marsh and White and Maynard all setting up behind the ball in defence.
The whole 3 did quite well and I thought Marsh was the best.
He took the game on and he did some great attacks.
He got caught a few times but I liked his attitude.
At one stage for 10 or so minutes White dominated.
He played the whole game down back so that seems his spot for 2016.
Cox did well without dominating.
He took a good lead up mark and a great overhead mark in the last quarter.
If he ever gets to the AFL he may well take mark of the year.
Cox spent the majority of his time in the ruck with the rest down at FF.
Goldsack spent time forward and back and then ended up on the wing.
He played ok with 2 good goals but he wasn't overly impressive.
Howe was good, a little slow but he has some class.
A Melbourne supporter said he was soft.
He wasn't soft of what i saw.
All the other afl listed players did reasonably well, but nothing stood out with any of them.
Although Siers seems to have good clean hands.
Wyatt got smashed and he went off unassisted.
Never came back on so I would suggest he had some concussion.
A good weekend for CFC. _________________ we don't eat our own at collingwood we just allow them to foul our nest. |
