Rot in hell Charles $£$%^%%$ Manson. Now there one death that won’t be mourned by many, evil son of a bastard. I just don’t understand how he had the charisma to get his followers to do the things they did. I watched the interviews he gave from jail, and there was just nothing likeable about him. Far to much money spent keeping him alive all those years. Better spent elsewhere.

The thing that people often overlook with Manson is that he didn't actually physically murder anyone and it was all done by his "followers".

Is what he did worse than walking into a primary school and shooting a load of kids? Sitting in a las Vegas Casino strafing a country music festival?
He murdered the wealthy in a viscous way in a more innocent time and his infamy was set. Confirmed and reinforced by his speeches from behind bars.
He's an interesting argument for capital punishment. If he had been executed when sentenced, before being reprieved by a change of laws, would he have been so infamous now?

I’d be happy to see all three examples dead, preferably before they took people with them.
Maybe it’s about the whole longevity of it all, maybe about the flower power kids who did the killing, I don’t know, maybe the insane interviews, I don’t even understand why they allowed that to happen. Maybe it’s qbout never showing remorse and not going out i his own blaze of glory.
I don’t know. But my first thought when I read he was dead was ‘rot in hell’!

The guy was obviously wrong in the head. It doesn't reduce the horror of his crimes at all, but I don't see the point in calling him 'evil'.

Hitler was the leader of a country whose personal ideology lead to the killing of millions of civilians based on race, religion and intellectual ability.
Manson was a nut job no doubt but a product of his upbringing and a strange period in human history when the use of psychedelic drugs and free love were seemingly considered a right of passage for the young and a progressive step.
On a side note I always found one of his murderous vamps highly attractive.
That's blokes for you.
