So i did chase down a good deal, with energy australia, so much so the other big companies all said they couldnt match it when they called me. And the lady said she will call me just before the deal ends to renegotiate. Also, the pay in elec tariff went from 5c to 11.4 cents.
elec bill was $270, which equates to standard of 2 people/no pool. $500 less than pre solar. Gas was $470, inc $198 discount, we have gas hot water with solar backup, of course the shitty weather meant using gas, and gas ducted heating, which certainly took a beating the last 2 months, and gas stove.
elec pre solar average $670 total $2680
solar average $300 (taking into account winter, heater & summer, pool) $1200 so we have knocked off $1480 a year, and thats not taking into account power cost rises since presolar.
plus because i went with one company my gas bill is discounted by $200 if i pay by the due date, which of course i do. so thats saving average $600 plus over winter alone. my summer bills for gas are $15-$35 so that should be interesting since the new deal!
so yes, it was more than worth it. cheers _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |

Keep an eye on what happens at the end date, usually 12 months.
Utility companies offer deals to get people signed, then after 12 months the price goes up and they rely on apathy to keep you.
if you have the energy (pun intended) you shop and swap every 12 months.
Same as credit cards. You can take advantage of the 12 months interest free for balances rolled over, change card providers every 12 months and never pay interest. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

i never pay a cent of interest as i pay it off before its due, I only have one to get FF points!
as for the solar, mid winter elec bill 4-5 people, 2 story house, too many lights/tvs etc and over use of ducted heating and dryer at the moment - $370 bucks ill take that, it would have been well over $800 without solar. I also negotiated a deal on gas with the same mob, $454 if paid by due date, or $667 if paid late. (i always pay immediately) we have solar hot water too, but obviously it hasnt been very efficient of late, so im really happy with this deal. I have to say it was worth every cent. _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |

Well, no, it doesn't. Shows as an "enquiry". No big deal. Have lots of enquiries, then you may face issues obtaining credit. |

That solar policy is nothing but a bribe and middle class welfare. Disgusting policy that voters will lap up because why worry about our society when free stuff is on offer. |

I dont think it really matters which class benefits if it displaces CO2 from the atmosphere and materially accelerates adoption of the platform that stands the best chance of stemming global warming,
Global warming is a genuine externality where the market will not pass true (potentially catastrophic) costs to the consumer, so there is a role for government in fighting it. If the Murdoch family alone were the only beneficiary I would accept it, if it was the best way to make a difference. _________________ Two more flags before I die! |

Ha, magpies and crows are too smart to be fooled by that kind of thing. TP, do you have issues with birds damaging the panels? _________________ kill for collingwood! |
