AFL.com lists the top 10 delisted players. Two are ours: Keefe and Schade. Both key backs. What do we need? Key back men. If they were from other clubs I almost guarantee that most on here would be in favour of taking either with a late draft pick. I still don’t know why Schade was delisted. I thought he was pretty solid before Dunne took his spot and Age is on his side.

Those who saw all the VFL games should be able to tell us more.
At the start of July, MagpieBat said the following.
Quote:

Schade - Has leaked goals, both to his direct opponent and on turnover, since his demotion. Should be regarded as depth.

Five of the ten are KPD, so if we want one we aren't short for options.

It's easy to replace these types. We didn't see a future for them so moved them on. Not a big deal.

We're short of KPP, we delist KPP, we aren't interested in trading for KPP.

There's obviously a strategy in place, time will tell if it's a good one.

I don't know if he got to re-present his credentials as a key back.

I hope we didn't delist him because we couldn't turn a good defender into a forward. I'd rather have kept a good defender.

People who are anti-Bucks (as coach) seem to think so. They'd also point back to Dawes...

Dawes was ok within his 'limited' role as a forward only, never a game winner but played his part in taking one of the key backs and bobbing up for important goals now and again. Personally I believe he was a little hard done by with the 'Brown' obsession.

Schade's a genuine dud, zero chance of getting picked up.

We should've played Keefe down back this year though, I never understood why we brought him back and tried to reinvent him.

I am happy we took Treloar but feel we paid overs for a midfielder. Drafting mids in the first round is a better bet than a key position player. Whereas with Lever it is worth giving up two picks as two first round gambles on a similar type player is a lot harder to get right. My thoughts are two first rounders should be for kpp or your Martin/Dangerfield types. I think we desperately need a key forward as i feel McLarty and Moore are our future two backmen. Moore up forward is purely out of necessity. He looks a more natural CHB in my opinion and seems to play great football there. The key forwards in this draft all seem to be better backmen as well which is why i still think we might approach the Lions to try and get a deal done. Future second rounder maybe...

Well, we won 1990 and 2010 with teams of ruck-rovers and a narrow sprinkling of KPP.

I'm not convinced Presti (N. Brown), Reid, Cloke, Dawes, L. Brown in 2010 counts as a "narrow sprinkling of KPP".

1990, yes. But those mids in place of key forwards were truly special players: Daicos, G. Brown, Crosisca.

If we could magically have a few G. Brown & Buckley clones, yes, we could win without KPPs.

Heres a link to the article: http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-10-14/worth-a-look-we-rank-the-top-10-delisted-players

1. Zac Clarke (Fremantle)
I think I made a case for him last year as a Free Agent. But with Grundy/Cox, I dont think he'll get much play time here. I wouldnt mind a ruckman ready to come in if we lose one to injury, but I dont know if Clarke is it. Still 27, so I think he'll find a role somewhere.

2. Sam Gibson (North Melbourne)
Too old for me. I dont know if someone will be willing to take him on at 31.

3. Aaron Mullett (North Melbourne)
IMO, the best delisted player available. Would love to sign him up. Already in front of Sinclair, Ramsay and Smith. At 25, well worth the risk.

4. Michael Talia (Sydney)
As a 24 year old, 192cm defender, people will ask the question. But I think he's not good enough for AFL level.

5. Lachy Hansen (North Melbourne)
Another that I'm not keen on. At 29, perhaps he could replace Schade on the list, but I think we could find a better fit.

6. Lachie Keeffe (Collingwood)
True that we'd be saying to have a look if he wasnt already a Collingwood player. I think he'll find a home in QLD. Unfortunately the knee and the 2 year suspension ruined what could have been a nice little career.

7. Sam Collins (Fremantle)
Another 192cm player. But I dont think he's good enough.

8. Jack Trengove (Melbourne)
Injuries have ruined his career. I'd offer him a spot on the VFL list if no AFL team goes for him.

9. Ben Kennedy (Melbourne)
Well hello old Ben. I remember the fanfare when he played a few good games for Melbourne. Didnt last too long. Perhaps a SA club will rookie him, but we'll see.

10. Henry Schade (Collingwood)
Seemed like a good pick up last year.
