Oh, and also, the double dissolution is looking a near certainty now.

Hope this all blows up in their faces.

How do these polls exist? Has anyone here been asked to participate or are the same people asked? or is it how many have taken the time to post/write/tweet their opinion.

Serious question.

I like Malcolm, I think he'll stay.

DTM & 5150 debating politics.

Just need PTID & David to start arguing about redtube vs youtube and we've flipped the Tavern on its head.

I do wonder about that sometimes – I've never been polled. But clearly the people in the know believe them, or else Abbott would still be prime minister. And election results tend to prove them more or less correct.

BTW, I don't have a strong stance on that debate, but redtube has better and more articulate comments under the videos.

Unless the Born to rule parties Budget (yes we are finally going to get one) does some real damage I can't see them losing the lower house. The Senate however becomes real interesting. Just as Turdbull has gambled on winning both houses, the Greens joined forces with the born to rule mob thinking they will win more senate seats and hold the balance of power.

Going to be interesting. If your on a low income/ benefits, work in the public system and on penalty rates, you best buy some KY Gel as you will be the ones screwed over if they get control of both houses.

Good move IMO. Turnbull has obviously been angling at this for a while and using the building industry unions as a trigger won't get a lot of backlash even after the inevitable scare campaign from Labor and the ACTU.

Gives the senate a well needed enema and maybe the winner can get on with the process of governing and stand or fall on their actions.

Yep so lucky.

At least the states have a comedian running for president to keep them entertained during the campaign.
Maybe one of our looney crossbenchers could step up to the plate for the Aus election?
He\she could start by proposing a floating wall all the way around the Australian coast to keep the boats out.
To be paid for by the governments of Syria, Afghanistan, etc.

Lol, good call. Actually, I think 15 months might be an underestimation – some of these people announced their candidacies as far back as May.

Abbott says what we've all been thinking for a while now:

It's an Abbott government without the conviction. It's why Malcolm is plummeting in the polls, he's an empty suit, a man of little substance who wanted to be PM but doesn't really care what happens now he's got there. Rudd 2.0. He thought a jink to the left on some social policy would be enough to have him riding happily into an early election and sweeping majority but it doens't work that way. People smell his insincerity and cowardice and are almost ready to chuck him in favour of Shorten. Abbott was respected and well liked on the right, Everybody hates Malcolm.
