When Nicksters are calling for Jessica to return or for Cox to be given a run you know the guy is not performing! He did improve from rnd 1 - but he seems to be taking up a spot for someone who can contribute something… anything! _________________ Love us or Hate us... we are Collingwood - you can't ignore the Mighty Magpies!!! |

But I think he could be ok.
2 games this year is not the final answer.
More is needed. |
It'll be interesting to see if they persist with him for as long as they persisted with Jesse White. I suspect they won't.
But our next three games are against St Kilda, Melbourne and Essendon. I hope they give him the opportunity to prove himself against those sides. A couple of solid performances might give him the confidence to go on with it. |

Absolutely embarrassing..... Can't have a key foward who is average at best in Ruck that can't make the distance from 45ish metres. I'd take Jessica White in a heart beat over that insipid display. Fell over. Fumbled. And ragdolled by midfielders... Pre season is over. Players man up...... Pick a key ruckman. And use the other to get a full forward... aka PATTON... _________________ When it's all said and done, and the Premierships won. It's Collingwood forerver more. |

Felt embarrassed for the poor bloke. Not sure how someone can go from being so promising to that? Looking a lot like what happened last year, do we give him 3 games again? Funny though, he did look more capable in the ruck. I'd still rather play 2 rucks than bring back White. Please no _________________ Formally frankiboy and FrankieGoesToCollingwood. |

Watching him tonight, it looks like his body needs to develop before he can be really competitive. Thus he needs time in the reserves to learn his craft and bulk up a bit. Also playing a key forward in second ruck never seems to lead to anything but sub par performances in both roles. This has been the case since we latched onto the elusive "Leigh Brown Role" and it still seems to be the case. Its about time that experiment was put to rest once and for all. _________________ We've all heard that a million monkeys banging on a million typewriters will eventually reproduce the entire works of Shakespeare. If Howe plays well in the VFL he may well take his spot. He had a couple of chances to make his mark and didn't take them. The howler was the one where he should have bent down picked the ball up and snapped a goal yet he toe picked it 5m to the Richmond defender _________________ Human behavioural studies suggest people who use a lot of swear words tend to be more honest & trustworthy. |

looks a mental thing to me. needs the belief he can cut it on the big stage. he looked like he was worried out of his forward contests.
we should play him next week as his height will worry the saints backline. _________________ Purveyor of sanctimonious twaddle. |

I think he can play but lacks self confidence. The key should be just to compete and give a contest and not worry about other stuff. His kick from 52m was just touched so that showed he can kick the ball longer. _________________ Daicos, impossible angle ... Goal! |

He's a preseason specialist when the stakes aren't high and the game is played at his pace. |

Are you talking about Gault or White here? |

Absolutely. Looked overwhelmed by the occasion, tentative, lacking confidence to attack and petrified of making a mistake.
I'd give him another week but give him a good talking to, say that the coaching staff believes he belongs out there but if he doesn't, he won't be. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Yes, he was terrible last night, but he is only one of many kids who are playing AFL but really are not ready for it and they struggle and make mistakes because of it. Ramsay, Marley, Oxley, Langdon, Aish and yes, even Frost and Crisp are probably not 100% ready but there they are playing AFL and slowly learning the business. I'm prepared to give Gault more games, I think he can have a positive influence but he just needs something to go right, take a mark, kick a nice goal, win a contest, just something and it may spark him. _________________ RED "BABY" CAVANAUGH: Didn't hear what the bet was.
