The Magpies might of been thrown the long leash of a forward messiah in the form of Western Australian giant forward Corey Gault. He is also affectionally known as "the Straights of "Gi Gaultar". Due to his ability to negotiate the sherrin through the tight sticks of goal in a straight directive . While many champion forwards have developed their technique by goal kicking practice Corey also combines it with something else with some great inner wisdom and insight.

" Most days I consult tidal patterns to understand how the ball should be kicked from certain angles, it also helps to know if brim are biting at Stony Point and if you need a lure, some days I pretend to be made of aineseed oil and attract the 3rd defender". The Low tide means the foward line is uncrowded and you expose smaller defenders, why a high tide is also advantageous in the way of finding sea spray and marking over head.

No wonder the Pies are excited The Straits of "Gi Gaultar" dobbed 5 majors in a pre season intra club match outshining young gun Darcy Moore who only managed 4.

what a superb effort by gault. i don't know how he was able to lug around his frame and kick five with yours and stui's heads up his arse. Shocked Laughing

more seriously, he needs to come on this year and establish a presence at senior level. looking forward to seeing him take strides in his progress.

A great lead, can mark and kick the ball. If he drops the mark he drops his head and loses his intensity. He needs the 2nd, 3rd and 4th efforts to be on the senior list. Hard to get carried away over a practice match and in saying that 5 goals is 5 goals.

My Greek friends tell me the straights of Gi Gaultar could be the straights of Malacca. As long as it's not 'Merde he wrote' we could be right.

Big year for the Gault factor

From the video, he looks to have developed more muscle around the thighs.

The last couple of preseasons he's been impressive, gets the call up to the senior list and dies out pretty quickly.

Without trying to sound like a negative Nelly ... at least 2 (maybe 3) were Joe the Goose over the top into the goal square types.

Now, now.

At no stage was any part of my anatomy actually inserted in any part of his. I was just right behind him (Ok, real close behind him) whispering encouragement. Embarassed Wink

This has to be a make or break year for Gault

He's off to a good start & Clokes spot is there for the taking if he can keep getting the pill & kicking straight .

In fact Clokie should be pretty nervous with Moore , Cox & Gault all young & tall .

Corey Gault 200cm 97kg
Alan Toovey 189cm 84kg

Can't see anything wrong with that match up can we?

Not too mention Toovey got burnt at least twice by covering another man and his vfl team mates not getting over to pick up his in time.
