Post subject: Are we covered better this year | |
|
All parts of the ground have we recriuted well and together with last years
group are we better stocked in the backs forwards mids and rucks.
With the gloom and doom created from rumours and if partly true how are
covered in relation to Feb 2015 _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

I believe we're better covered this year than last year, even if the rumour of Reid sustaining a minor calf injury, is true. This time last year Reid whole season was under a cloud, whereas this year, Reid has navigated through the majority of the preseason and was never intended to play the early NAB games anyway. Our midfield is much stronger this year than last year, with Freeman out all last year and De Goey with a year under his sleeve, able to contribute much more this year. Aish and Treloar will have an immediate impact on the side, while Howe will be eased into the home and away games by about Rd 2.
Moore and White will be fighting it out for a key forward positional role. White has made a stronger impact on preseason this year than last year and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he has finally learned what his role is in the team. We have Witts and Cox who have made giant strides learning the ruck role since last year and will be able to assist Grundy in the centre bounces, or contribute in a forward role.
Of the draftees, Phillips has impressed on the training track and Crocker should have an immediate impact, if he can stay injury free. Sier is an unknown quantity, but has the size and pace to contribute to the team at some point this year.
The only reservation I have is that we are short, one rotating tall who can play forward or back, as needed. That player is Keeffe who is unfortunately suspended, but there is nothing we can do about that. St Kilda is in the same position with having Carlise out for the season. |

I think the only area of concern would be developing KPP depth. Would have been nice to have a kid like Harry McKay developing in the VFL this year. |

We would have to have the strongest 20-35 part of the list you would think so depth is definitely a strength. _________________ All We Can Be |

Yes only intra club game but the Jordan and Darcy
show gave encouragement as did Gault.
Three players from last year to add to Aish and
Treloar _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

a timely thread considering it's the preseason and were minus some big names already but as MM states above we have a strong list that we should be able to cover and remain competitive. however if we sustain more lti's than short term to medium forget the top six, we might be scraping top eight and then we'll just be calling this another development year. _________________ no second chances |

I still think we are light on for key forwards unless Moore comes on or White lives up to his potential.
Reid needs to play back, even if totally fit.
We are not as well-served in the ruck as it seems. Witts is just too slow and doesn't take enough marks around the ground. It is too much to expect Moore to ruck for significant parts of a game. Grundy doesn't get enough centre taps.
The area where we look good is depth of medium sized players. _________________ Magpies forever.

Also, Gault looks clumsy and doesn't take enough clean grabs. He is ordinary once the ball hits the deck. _________________ Magpies forever.
