Good point. Is the latter an over reaction to the former?

The left aligned twitterati brook no argument, you either agree or get pounded with insults.

I certainly don't endorse abuse or bullying (though they are not the same as censorship; at least, not institutionalised censorship). But I think there's also just a lot of disingenuous appeals to free speech from the right – look no further than our own government including the guy in the thread title, who were libertarians on 18C one week and then cracking down on journalists and whistleblowers the next. Like some on the left, they only cared about freedom if they didn't happen to be offended by what was being said. That, as many a wise person has pointed out, ain't freedom of speech.

Abuse and bullying against a dissenting view is potentially a form of censorship, but otherwise fair call, good post.
