Magpies swoop on the Sunshine Coast
4th January 2016 9:37 AM
Sunshine Coast Daily
http://www.sunshinecoastdaily.com.au/news/magpies-swoop-sunshine-coast/2888709/

SUNSHINE Coast AFL fans may feel a shudder down their spine this morning, when the most supported, but most despised club in the country arrives at Sunshine Coast Airport.

Collingwood FC will be the latest of seven AFL squads to base themselves on the Sunshine Coast this pre-season.

Fans can catch a sneak-peek of their heroes when the side arrives at Sunshine Coast airport at approximately 11:50am, before they lock-down for intense training sessions over the next five days

However, diehard Pies barrackers will have another opportunity to meet their heroes up-close at an open training session at Maroochydore Multi Sports Complex on Fisherman's Rd from 9:30am on Wednesday.

There will be free face painting for kids big and small, food and beverages available for purchase and autograph opportunities with the club's stars.

The 2010 premiers have turned to the Sunshine Coast to help them make a charge up the premiership ladder in 2016.

This will be the side's third camp of the pre-season, having visited Falls Creek and Portsea before heading on Christmas break.

They now turn their attention to the Sunshine Coast to help them return to finals football for the first time since 2013.

Keep an eye on the Daily's website for more details

You got lucky.....that drive can be a nightmare. I drove it on the 3rd on my way back through north to Bundaberg. From mmt Tamborine to the sunny coast 3hrs 45 courtesy of one breakdown.

Hope you all enjoyed it. Sadly I had to work. Sad

Hi guys,

At the training session. About one to two thousand people here I reckon. Very hot just on 30 degrees with hardly a cloud in the sky. Shade at a premium.

Players that are training separate from the main group are:
1. Adam Trelor
2. Tyson Goldsack
3. James Aish (training mainly on his own)
4. Adam Oxley
5. Tom Langdon
6. Jeremy Howe
7. Rupert Wills (who has a moon boot on his left leg but is still hand balling the ball).

These 7 players are mainly jogging 200m, short hand passing and kicking, and now some boxing.

The rest of the group are inside the Centre square. Have been warming up, doing push ups and kick to kick.

Have moved on to a game where two posts are placed at either side of the Centre square and the squad is split into two teams... Purple and Black. Have to get the ball through the posts with pressure including some light tacking.

Now onto a full field practice.
