I recall as a kid growing up that one newspaper in Melbourne on Monday,s
printed back page in full colour a sport,s action photo from the weekend.

And first one I recall was the Monday after 1953 GF ,of course won by us.

So with the power of Google i delved to find first ever in the world colour sports photo in Melbourne,s Argus morning daily July 28th 1952 was the Marroon,s (Fitzroy) playing the Magpie,s

Thorold Merrett the tackler----another first for my Pies

Barry that is one of the most obscure bits of football
info that I have ever read on Nicks.
I don't know whether to congratulate you or say WTF
would you go there.
Either way it was worth reading.

My interest is part footy , part experience as whilst doing Printing Trade
apprentiship (as a Lithographic Printer) and as the Argus was printed
using the Litho process our trade teacher took us there on a school
trip.

And the Argus folded putting a lot of Litho printers out of work --i worked with several from various times over the years

Now that obscure

No dramas. You did all the leg work, it took me 30 seconds to find it using the info in your post. Wink

thanks barrybc
It reminded me that I loved the colour feature in the herald after each grand final. The only time you'd see football action in colour for the year, either in newspaper or on tv...

Hey don't pick on Barry's keyboard, it can't help not having any ''''''s. That what happens when you shop at the swapmeet so be warned! It's also endearing, much like DTM's capitalisations

Good Lord, it's the blind leading the blind. Laughing

Personally, I'm quite comfortable with Barry,s unique and innovative approach to punctuation. Though I do wish I could work out what his signature is supposed to mean.
