No, it's not out yet (ha ha, gotcha! Razz )

But we do have the first leak of the fixture for season 2016:

VFL not far away from releasing 2016 fixture. Draft shows season kicking off on Sat, April 9. VFL to play SANFL at Adelaide Oval on May 29.

https://twitter.com/PaulAmy375/status/672282238055157760

April 9 is the weekend of AFL Round 3 (specifically, the Saturday afternoon we play St Kilda at the MCG), which tallies with what I have privately suspected, that the VFL will continue with its pattern of the past few years for an 18 round season played over 20 weeks, which would see the first week of the VFL finals played on the weekend of AFL Round 23.

Also to note, the state rep footy game falls on the weekend of May 29, which is the Sunday we play the Bulldogs in Indigenous Round, so that looks like our first VFL bye. Which, in turn, will almost certainly be followed by our 2nd VFL bye just 3 weeks later on the weekend of Saturday June 18 (immediately after Queen's Birthday).

I apologise that I did not post this immediately after Amy tweeted it, but the latest trailer for Batman vs Superman just happened to have landed at the same time and, well... I've been kinda busy... Laughing

Over to you...

Possible fixture leak, on another forum, from a person who claims to be in the know...

If that's true, then good. Face a recent nemesis on our home deck.

No idea at this stage as to when in the season this game could fall, but our matches with Sandy have tended to come in the middle/2nd half of the year, so there's a good chance that pattern will repeat.

All unofficial at this stage though, so we'll just have to wait and see (geez, I sound like one of Balme's injury reports... Surprised Very Happy )

Not directly related to Collingwood's specific fixture (although it could end up being so... Wink ), but we have a date for the Grand Final:

Quote:
Peter Jackson VFL ‏@VFL · 3h3 hours ago
The #PJVFL @LegendairyAU Grand Final will be played on Sunday Sept 25 in 2016 - full H&A @VFL fixture to be released on Friday #IsitAprilyet

https://twitter.com/VFL/status/674891980921421824

So, that sees the first week of the finals taking centre stage on the AFL's new pre-finals bye weekend of September 3-4, which means our final home and away game will fall on the weekend of AFL Round 23 (the floating fixture against Hawthorn, August 27-29).

This also sees the Grand Final continuing in it's traditional slot of being played on the Sunday before the AFL Grand Final. There was talk/chatter that they might try fixturing the Grand Final on the new Friday public holiday next year, to enhance the day as an event. Obviously they decided against it, which I think is good, if only for the fact that it could have seen one team going in off a 5 day break, which is just crazy...

As mentioned before, fixture's out sometime tomorrow. Hoping for a full allocation of 9 Victoria Park home games, a Saturday double-header or two and no clashes... Smile

A late hint from Marcus Wagner as to what we might be getting, courtesy of Mkcaptain from BigFooty:

VFL Fixture release tomorrow, plenty in store for the @VFLPies . Potential curtain raisers, double headers and Vic Park blockbusters #lulie

https://twitter.com/WagsVargs/status/674896211690696704

Wags did say on VFL Radio during that curtain-raiser this year that the club was pushing for a 7-2 home game split between Vic Park and the MCG in 2016, so hopefully that's what we end up getting...

Thanks for that summary MB! Here are the double headers for next year.

Round 2 - Casey, MCG/Olympic Park, 11:45am (Sunday, April 17th)
= We then play Melbourne at the MCG starting at 3:20pm.

Round 5 - Sandringham, Olympic Park, 5:15pm (Saturday, May 7th)
= We play Carlton beforehand at the MCG that starts at 1:45pm.

Round 7 - Williamstown, Olympic Park, 5:15pm (Saturday, May 21st)
= We play Geelong beforehand at the MCG that starts at 1:45pm.

Round 13 - Northern Blues, Olympic Park/MCG, 4:00pm (Saturday, July 2nd)
= We then play Carlton at the MCG starting at 7:25pm.

Round 17 - Geelong, Victoria Park, 12:00pm (Saturday, July 30th)
= We then play West Coast at the MCG starting at 4:35pm.

Round 20 - Box Hill, Box Hill City Oval, 12:00pm (Saturday, August 20th)
= We then play Gold Coast at Etihad starting at 7:25pm. I do note that their is a gap somewhat between both games.

Overall not bad when it comes to the double headers but some of the starting times are strange plus it's disappointing we're only playing five games at Victoria Park next year.

Seems to be more about aligning the double headers. Love Vic Park but having access to the VFL across the road from the AFL game makes sense, particularly as there seems to be a shuffling of the order and therefore a need for lights.
