Post subject: Who to target in October 2016? | |
|
Here's the list of free agents in October next year.
Apologies if this has been discussed already, had a quick look and couldn't find a thread.
The listed age is what the player will be in 2017.
Adelaide
Scott Thompson. 33 years old. Pass.
Nathan van Berlo 30 years old. Injuries. Pass.
Brisbane
Daniel Merrett. 31 years old. Pass.
Daniel Rich. 26 years old. Did a knee in 2014, but recovered nicely for 21 games in 2015. If he hasn't signed the dotted line, I'd say it's worth a chat to see what his thoughts are.
Carlton
Kade Simpson. 32 years old. Pass.
Essendon
Heath Hocking. 28 years old. Defensive midfielder. Has never set the world fire, but you could do worse. If WADA fails to suspend, is he worth a look? Probably not.
Cale Hooker. 28 year old All-Australian, best and fairest 196cm defender. If the window was open, you'd have to put up an offer.
David Myers. 27 years old. IMO, has been disappointing for a top 10 pick. Pass.
Brent Stanton. 30 years old. The stay-puff marshmallow man himself. PASS!
Fremantle
Zac Clarke. 26 year old ruck man. Got the position covered. Pass.
Chris Mayne. 28 years old. Could highlight, but from WA and prob not interested in a Vic club. Pass.
Clancee Pearce. 26 years old. Does not do enough!! Pass.
Aaron Sandilands. 33 years old. If only it were 2007 again. Pass.
Geelong
Jimmy Bartel. 33. Pass.
Corey Enright. 35. Pass.
Tom Lonergan. 32. Pass.
Hawthorn
Luke Hodge & Sam Mitchell. Hawks players for life. Sadly.
Melbourne
Jack Grimes. 27 year old defender. Needs a change of scenery. But I don't think he's damaging enough. Pass.
Neville Jetta. 26 year old running defender. Got the spot covered I think. If he was cheap enough maybe?
Jake Spencer. 27 years old. Another ruck who we don't need.
Jack Watts. 25 years old. If anyone ever needed new surroundings, its Jack Watts. Would offer him a deal just for the lols.
North Melbourne
Brent Harvey. 53 years old. If only it was 1982 again. Pass.
Drew Petrie. 34 years old. Pass.
Lindsay Thomas. 28 years old. Not good enough. Pass.
Daniel Wells. 31 years old. Pass.
Port Adelaide
Paul Stewart. 29 years old. Not what we're looking for. Pass.
Richmond
Shane Edwards. 28 years old. Interesting one. I'd put a 2 year deal in front of him, if only to upset the Tigers.
Ty Vickery. 26 years old. Not what we're after. Pass.
St Kilda
Sean Dempster. 32. Pass.
Sam Fisher. 34. Pass.
Jarryn Geary. 28 years old. Defensive Mid. Could do worse, but I don't think he's what we are lacking.
Nick Riewoldt. 34 years old. If we were close to a GF team, I'd put a one year offer in front of him. But then again, he'll be 35 and we're not quite a GF team, so pass.
Sydney Swans
Kieren Jack. 29 years old and declining. Pass.
Ted Richards. 33 years old and passed it. Pass.
Nick Smith. 28 All-Australian defender. Slight interest.
West Coast
Mitch Brown. 27 year old twin of Nathan. Sentimentally yes. The constant injuries are a worry.
Sam Butler. 30 years old. Pass.
Chris Masten 27 years old. Doesn't improve the team. Pass.
Matt Priddis. 31 years old. Tempted, but pass.
Will Schofield. 27 years old. Could do worse. What do you think?
Western Bulldogs
Matthew Boyd. 34 years old. Pass.
Will Minson. 31 and crap. Pass.
Dale Morris. 33 Pass.
Robert Murphy. 34 Pass. If only he wanted to come here when we offered it to him a couple years back. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned!

Shane Edwards only for mine.
More than a handy midfielder, and that would make
Barlett really angsty. _________________ no second chances |

I believe Todd Goldstein re-signed for another 3 years in November.
He won't be a free agent until Nov 2019 when he will be 32 years old. _________________ In the end, it's not going to matter how many breaths you took, but how many moments took your breath away |

We need a mercurial / opportunistic small forward. Lindsay Thomas would interest me at the right price. Him at the feet of Cloke, Moore and White, with plenty of service from a building midfield, would be worth a punt if 2016 form pushes us into 2017 flag contention. _________________ Est. 2002 |

I would personally go after the enigmatic Daniel Wells if we can get him cheap. A change of scenery might make him less enigmatic, and more likely to win finals...
Plus he has pace... |

This small forward that people keep going on about who do we drop to put him in the side? Fasolo? Elliot? Swan because he is playing forward. One of our young future mids? It will not be Blair as he plays a different role.
So Cloke Moore Elliot Fasolo resting mid. One of White Grundy Witts also
Reid /Blair/Goldsack all have roles. Thats six up forward plus Macaffer should be back.
So where does he come from?
Remember all small forwards end up in the midfield and later go back forward. Elliot comes to mind. Unless injury prevents this think Rioli.
How many games will this player cost our developing mids and forwards?
Also Howe was not traded to play VFL _________________ Carlscum 120 years being cheating scum |

Yep, another three years for him so he's off that list. |
Yes he re-signed a few weeks ago.

I would have thought the Hawks could have a few more free agents?
Daniel Rich was pretty ordinary in 2015 and had some ankle issues so he might be a bit injury prone. Hooker probably the best available on the list provided… _________________ Love us or Hate us... we are Collingwood - you can't ignore the Mighty Magpies!!! |

Most of the Geelong backline is available. Mackie and Taylor must be getting close.

If you think we have a front and centre specialist crumbling small forward on our list, please do tell me who it is, because all our 'small forwards' lead and fly in packs. _________________ Est. 2002 |
