Post subject: Australia v. West Indies. First Test. Hobart | |
|
Dec. 10-14.
Australia v West Indies at Bellerieve Oval, Hobart.
1st Test.
--------------------------
Shaun Marsh probably saved his immediate Test career, so who will be dropped to fit Usman Khawaja back in ?
As both Ussy and Marsh can open, it's likely to be Joe Burns.
The bowling. Just one change, it seems. Patto in for the injured Starc.

Yuk. Nothing as bad as off sauce.
But you could be 'on' old mate. I just assumed he'd be back for Hobart. _________________ Donny.

Geez, Burns will be bloody stiff to lose his spot to S. Marsh. _________________ Don't confuse your current path with your final destination. Just because it's dark and stormy now doesn't meant that you aren't headed for glorious sunshine! |

Ussy not even mentioned, when the squad was announced, so, no need to shoot your messenger, Dyso.
TEST 12: Steve Smith (c), David Warner (vc), Joe Burns, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Josh Hazlewood, Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Marsh, Shaun Marsh, Peter Nevill, James Pattinson, Peter Siddle, Adam Voges
The Coulter-Nile selection (would only play if one of Patto, Sids or Haze didn't 'come up') is a strange one. 1. He hasn't played in WA's 4 SS matches, this season. 2. The Test is at Bellerive so, surely the in form Jackson Bird was a better choice. 3. He missed the last match through suspension - for disputing an umpire's decision. Not the best message to send to juniors. 4. Bushranger, Scott Boland has been rewarded for his 7/31 in Victoria's demolition of WA, a few days ago, by being named as back-up for Hobart. Given that and the above (1,2 & 3), he should be in the 12, ahead of NCN. _________________ Donny.

Possibly a discussion for another thread, but....
I'm all for playing bowlers on their home decks, providing their form to date more or less equals the other form bowlers in the comp.
So in this instance I would have played Bird over Patterson, and I rate Patto very highly. And if Bird didn't fire, the replace him with Patto for the MCG test.
Boland VERY promising, but you'd think they will hold him back for at least another summer. We still have Cummins in reserve, who must be cracking the sads well and truly by now at lack of opportunity.
So not sure how NCN suddenly gets to queue-jump some others....
Is he moving to NSW soon?

I agree wholeheartedly with Donny that Jackson Bird would have been a much better choice that NCN. _________________ Don't confuse your current path with your final destination. Just because it's dark and stormy now doesn't meant that you aren't headed for glorious sunshine! |

Disappointed in Rod Marsh saying they picked him on 'gut feeling'. Not good enough. _________________ Donny.
