He just wasn't a good fit.
Scotty Russell and Tony Francis had the roving department covered and he struggled to find a place in the team.
He was used to playing on the dinky SCG (oval(?) and didn't have a particularly big tank.
Playing on the vast open spaces of the MCG (week after week) found him out.

(Personally, I reckon the club was so miffed that the filth snaffled Greg Williams it was determined to run off with the bridesmaid Mitchell).

Mate he didn't even play well at the wide open spaces of Vic Park. Complete flog, came for the cash and checked his ticker in at Carlton. Played one good game for us against Sydney, which was very little return for what I remember as the biggest deal of the time

Cheers for the response everyone.

inxs88, I couldn't rack my brain enough... Bo Nixon, that was it!!

To those discussing Barry Mitchell, it looked like he had one or two good games for us in '93. And I guess I'm glad to say he missed out on the 1995 premiership with Carlton. Interestingly, he wore #10 for all but his first season with Sydney and for all three seasons at Carlton. When at the Pies, he wore #6, which is the number his son wears now for the Swans.

If he desperately wanted to go to Carlton in 1993, he must have been pretty shitty when he watched them make the Grand Final that year. Could he have been the difference between winning the flag and losing to the Bombers?
