Wow, what a slow and boring TV event was the live draft last night on Fox.
Can't they improve it.

All the players should be able to dress up and take their girlfriends along and get pissed.

I have no idea why they kept making the coaches walk up to the stage, they could have just left Gil to read out the names. He kept walking back and forth like an idiot too. The idea was there, the execution was poor.

Spot on. Great Idea but Execution was Pathetic.

Really need to work to fix that IF they do the same thing next year

I didnt really like the bidding system going on during the night, not because it dropped the Pies down but because it was a tiresome waste of time and it was annoying as hell.

Otherwise do it that way again, but maybe have a test run a few days before.

This was almost impossible to watch and I turned to something else after Weideman was taken by Melbourne because his Grandad was my favourite player when I was a young junior member of the Mighty Magpies.

Agree and if you want want to jazz it up, then bring out the bikini clad girls holding up a numbered card for the start of the next rounds selections.

Just recorded it and watched it about a hour delayed so I could fast forward the boring bits and was live by our 2nd pick but needs to be improved for next year

The format sounded good in theory but it was terrible to watch this year. It was slow, the bidding process just delayed the draft selections and it was weird not seeing the draftees "player number" being read out as it has been in previous years.

I'd prefer to see it go back to the old format. It was too slow and tedious this year and at times it almost seemed amateurish.

Once Bolton say "Dandenong Stingrise." I knew we were in for a long night of stuff ups. Then the whole Josh Dunkley thing with the tech issues and stuff, was just amateur hour.

can temporarily add it to AFL commentators and Grand Final entertainment, as some of the notoriously sub-par things about the game. Sad, but lets hope they learn from their errors...

Looks like it might have been only me but I didn't actually mind the telecast, warts and all. I was too interested in the draft inself to whinge, whine or worry about the qualilty of the broadcast. I enjoyed it.
The Collingwood special "For the Taking" directly afterwards was fabulous viewing too.
