The old story about needing to develop multiple avenues to goal applies, but it's more than just having a number of forwards it's about using multiple different methods as well as different people.

Agree with you stui on all your complete post not just what I have quoted, The recruiting of Trelore and Howe are a sign things will be different up forward this coming year. Clearly Swanny is being replaced by Adam and will be playing more as and attacking forward coming off the wings and centre top of the square, pushing forward endeavouring to create one on one contest. Not forgetting his cameos in the forward ruck contests!
Howe will be another running forward and from what has been said will be using his running capacity to break lines and hopefully will have many opportunities to jump at the ball one on one. We could be in for exiting times.
Adding to the mix in my view will be De Goey, while he is developing looks like having the attributes of that solid defensive forward who has speed can take an overhead mark is a decent kick and has the physicality to stop his opponent dead in his tracks ala Maxwell!
One of these three will be on the interchange and I hope all three will play in our new forward set up!
There is young Moore ............ Super mobile and has a great pair of hands!

One thing we can improve on I think is crumbing goals. Too often the ball hits the deck from a marking contest and gets easily cleared out.

I agree we could do with a specialist crumber who can find space in an instant and get it of the boot at the same time but I wonder how many of those opportunities are not taken by Faz or Elliot? Defences are usually structured with the extra-man and are well organised as to reduce the crumming possibility for the opposition. Maybe Broomy can compete for one of those roles?

Hopefully the new look forward line is well in it's planning the players mentioned above form part of it and while we are contemplating they are beginning to work together with the intention to gel as a 10-12 player group that can substitute one another during the year.

Collingwood (23.00 Flag, 6.00 Top 4, 1.94 Top Cool

2015: 12th (10-2)

2016 Predicted: ~14-8

Here's the first of my other Team Previews ...

For the purposes of these reviews, I've extracted several comments from various websites, in particular:

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-10-22/trade-period-the-final-verdict

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-11-24/afl-draft-verdict-how-did-your-club-fare

Hawthorn (4.00 Flag, 1.50 Top 4, 1.07 Top Cool

2015: 3rd (16-6)

2016 Predicted: ~19-3

NB: Whilst the predicted win/loss suggests an improvement, I see the Hawks as roughly the same level but their PF/PA in 2015 suggested that they were very unlucky on the W-L front (around -4 wins, ie history suggests their PF/PA would normally have resulted in a 20-2 record!). Scary, I know.

OUT:
Jed Anderson (trd)
Sam Grimley (del)
David Hale (ret)
Jared Hardisty (del)
Brian Lake (ret)
Jonathan Simpkin (del)
Matt Suckling (FA)
Alex Woodward (del)

IN:
Jack Fitzpatrick (Melbourne)
Ryan Burton
Kieran Lovell
Blake Hardwick

PLAYERS OVER 30YO (mid April 2016):
Mitchell
Burgoyne
Gibson
Hodge
Lewis (late April!)

With David Hale's retirement, the Hawks were keen for some extra cover in the ruck/tall forward role and swooped on unwanted Melbourne big man Jack Fitzpatrick in a swap for pick 94. It remains to be seen how much football the 200cm big man plays for Hawthorn, but he could be a handy back-up.

The Hawks have faith that Kaiden Brand and Kurt Heatherley can fill Brian Lake's shoes in defence. The Hawks also previously recruited James Frawley presumably, at least in part, with Lake's retirement in mind.

After three consecutive flags, the Hawks should still be a dominant player during the regular season as they have the stocks to replace the significant departures of Hale, Lake, Suckling and Anderson. The only question mark is when the veteran midfield of Sam Mitchell, Luke Hodge and Jordan Lewis will start to taper off. Soon hopefully!

One of the big tests for the Hawks will be when they face the Pies. The Pies took them close in 2015 and have bolstered their stocks in some key areas.

Fremantle (9.00 Flag, 1.95 Top 4, 1.33 Top Cool

2015: 1st (17-5)

2016 Predicted: ~15-7

IN:
Harley Bennell (Gold Coast)
Darcy Tucker
Harley Balic
Samuel Collins
Shane Yarran

OUT:

Jacob Ballard (del)
Ryan Crowley (del)
Josh Deluca (del)
Paul Duffield (ret)
Max Duffy (del)
Luke McPharlin (ret)
Craig Moller (del)
Anthony Morabito (del)
Colin Sylvia (ret)
Tom Vandeleur (del)

PLAYERS OVER 30YO (mid April 2016):
Pavlich
Sandilands
Johnson
Mundy
Griffen
Dawson
Mzungu
Pearce

The Dockers will effectively start the season with 10 wins at Subiaco against travelling teams and two 50/50 games against West Coast.

Pav has handed in the captaincy, but will go around again. It is not clear that his body is up to a full season of AFL and he may be strategically rested at times I suspect, particularly away games. McPharlin's retirement may also see the Dockers exposed against the better key forwards.

If the Dockers can keep Harley Bennell on the straight and narrow, the troubled star could be anything. The goalkicking midfielder will certainly add more X-factor to Freo's midfield mix and will help Ross Lyon's side hit the scoreboard after slotting 92 goals from 81 games for Gold Coast. Don't underestimate the possibility of Shane Yarran coming into the team and hitting the scoreboard either.

West Coast Eagles (6.00 Flag, 1.70 Top 4, 1.22 Top Cool

2015: 2nd (16-5-1)

2016 Predicted: mind says ~17-5 (gut says they overachieved in 2015 and may drop off)

IN:
Jonathan Giles (Essendon)
Lewis Jetta (Sydney Swans)
Jack Redden (Brisbane Lions) - injured recently?
Luke Partington
Tom Cole
Kurt Mutimer
Matthew Allen

OUT:
Brant Colledge (del)
Will Maginness (del)
Dylan Main (del)
Murray Newman (del)
Rowen Powell (del)
Matt Rosa (trd)
Scott Selwood (FA)
Callum Sinclair (trd)
Simon Tunbridge (del)
Beau Waters (ret)
Alec Waterman (del)

PLAYERS OVER 30YO (mid April 2016):
Priddis
Butler

Securing Jetta and Redden adds proven skill and toughness to the line-up, off-setting the losses of Rosa and Selwood. Redden should relieve some of the workload on Matt Priddis at the contest and Jetta's versatility to play in attack, through the middle or across half-back will be a welcome asset for Adam Simpson.

The Eagles' ins and outs are like for like in position, and two of their three recruits – Jetta and Redden – could be considered upgrades. Sinclair's departure will require Scott Lycett to step up in 2016, but Giles is a savvy in for depth purposes only in a premiership campaign.

Geelong (9.00 Flag, 1.95 Top 4, 1.33 Top Cool

2015: 10th (11-9-1)

2016 Predicted: ~14-8

IN:
Patrick Dangerfield (Adelaide)
Lachie Henderson (Carlton)
Zac Smith (Gold Coast)
Scott Selwood (West Coast, restricted free agent)
Ryan Gardner
Sam Menegola
Wylie Buzza
Matthew Hayball

OUT:
Sam Blease (ret)
Dean Gore (trd)
Steve Johnson (trd)
James Kelly (del)
Brad Hartman (ret)
Jarrad Jansen (trd)
Hamish McIntosh (ret)
Jared Rivers (ret)
Dawson Simpson (FA)
Mathew Stokes (ret)
James Toohey (ret)
Josh Walker (trd)

PLAYERS OVER 30YO (mid April 2016):
Enright
Bartel
Lonergan
Mackie

The Cats were short on big men in 2015, particularly in the ruck, with Dawson Simpson, Hamish McIntosh, Rhys Stanley, Nathan Vardy and Mitch Clark struggling to get on the field. Bringing in Smith helps up shore up that department and Henderson adds another young tall to the Cats' aging defence.

Most importantly, the addition of Dangerfield and Scott Selwood will give captain Joel Selwood the support he needs to rediscover his best form in 2016.

Port Adelaide (11.00 Flag, 2.50 Top 4, 1.45 Top Cool

2015: 9th (12-10)

2016 Predicted: ~10-12

IN:
Charlie Dixon (Gold Coast)
Jimmy Toumpas (Melbourne)
Riley Bonner
Aidyn Johnson

OUT:
Kane Cornes (ret)
Daniel Flynn (ret)
Mitch Harvey (del)
Tom Logan (ret)
Kane Mitchell (del)
Andrew Moore (del)
Jarrad Redden (del)
Sam Russell (del)
Mason Shaw (del)
Johann Wagner (del)
MONFRIES (CAS/WADA/ASADA)
RYDER (CAS/WADA/ASADA)

PLAYERS OVER 30YO (mid April 2016):
Schultz

As well-rounded as Port’s list is, Jay Schulz has been the Power’s key forward but isn’t known for his contested marking. Dixon is listed at 202cm and provides the monster target Port’s smalls can thrive around. Dixon and Toumpas haven't lived up to their potential but the Power could be rewarded for handing them fresh starts.

The loss of Ryder and Monfries for 2016 has got to hurt their chances of being a contender. As I recall, there is also a question mark over Dixon's ability to play the bulk of the games - I think the Suns previously indicated he might play only 15-16 games per season.

Sydney (12.00 Flag, 2.50 Top 4, 1.55 Top Cool

2015: 4th (16-6)

2016 Predicted: ~13-9

IN:
Callum Sinclair (West Coast)
Michael Talia (Western Bulldogs)
Callum Mills
Tyrone Leonardis

OUT:
Craig Bird (trd)
Adam Goodes (ret)

Sean McLaren (del)
Lloyd Perris (del)
Mike Pyke (ret)
Rhyce Shaw (ret)

PLAYERS OVER 30YO (mid April 2016):
Richards
McVeigh
McGlynn

With Mike Pyke's retirement, Sinclair's addition was critical. The 26-year-old ruckman is fresh off a breakout season, supporting Nic Naitanui at West Coast.

PLAYERS OVER 30YO (mid April 2016):

Tough inside midfielder Jacob Townsend should play straight away. The 22-year-old was targeted a long way out by the Tigers and he had an offer on the table to stay at Greater Western Sydney.

North Melbourne (18.00 Flag, 4.50 Top 4, 1.73 Top Cool

2015: 8th (13-9)

2016 Predicted: ~11-11

IN:
Jed Anderson (Hawthorn)
Ben McKay

Corey Wagner
Declan Mountford

OUT:
Leigh Adams (ret)
Ryan Bastinac (trd)
Daniel Currie (trd)
Majak Daw (del)

Scott McMahon (del)
Eric Wallace (del)
Max Warren (del)

PLAYERS OVER 30YO (mid April 2016):
Harvey
Petrie
Waite
Firrito
Dal Santo
Wells
Ray

The Roos' reliance on Brent Harvey to break the lines and Daniel Wells' ongoing injury woes meant they desperately needed to bring some pace and dare into the line-up – which former Hawk Jed Anderson has in spades. The young gun has had some misfortune with injury and illness, but boasts plenty of talent and should be a handy acquisition.

The Roos list is getting old and I'm tipping them to start dropping off in 2016.

CRAMERI (CAS/WADA/ASADA)

PLAYERS OVER 30YO (mid April 2016):
Murphy
Boyd
Morris
Minson
Adcock (assuming he promoted for Crameri)

Suckling is a quality acquisition and part of the next generation of leadership in the back half for when the likes of skipper Bob Murphy, Matthew Boyd and Dale Morris hang up their boots. The ex-Hawk also adds flexibility with his ability to play on a wing and kick long goals.

PLAYERS OVER 30YO (mid April 2016):
Thompson

Match-winner Patrick Dangerfield is an almost irreplaceable individual but the Crows will hope to compensate somewhat for the loss of his run, inside work and scoring power through the likes of the speedy Seedsman, hard nut Gore and skilled left-footer Menzel. Seedsman might also release the damaging Brodie Smith to play more in the midfield.

The Suns recovery after a horrid 2015 is not a fait accompli. They will win more than 4 games, but I'm not sure that it will be enough to make the 8.

There are some quality outs for the Giants and whilst the bulk of the young list will improve, I think if they can maintain an 11-11 record in 2016 that will be par for them.

Along with Geelong we surely have made the most positive list changes in the offseason. With the natural improvement from the existing (relatively young) list the Pies should surely be the big improver in 2016.

I probably won't bother posting for St Kilda, Melbourne, Brisbane, Carlton and Essendon as I think it is unlikely they will be contenders for the Top 8.
