The sad thing is these days that Carlton are easy beats. They have been for 20 years. But we'll take it. You can only beat who turns up on the night.

Sad? Long may it be so.

It's been a tough year but actually getting ahead of these clowns in the head-to-head is a meaningless stat that means everything. Smile

Was there as an 11 y/o; gutsy win.
And saw the Daicos show at Pigsarse Park in May 1981 too; unbelievable.

Was at the 1981GF; it still hurts and will never go away.

Still, the irony of history is a fine thing, who'd have thought Daics jnr would be part of setting the record straight?

It's kind of amazing how we've dominated them in recent years. We're now 12-2 from the last 14 games (since 2013); 17-4 from the last 21 (since 2009); and 25-10 from the last 35 (since 2002). Would be interesting to know if any team has a better head-to-head record against any other team in the last eight years in particular.

And there’s the whole thing about playing Carlton, right there in your post. Yes it’s a great record - but I just look at the 17:4 and am tragically disappointed that it isn’t 21:0.

Didn't Richmond own Brisbane until that 2020QF result?

Hawthorn owning Carlton for a long stretch, until 2018-2019?

And the was the St.Kilda-Melbourne streak recently; can't recall which team it favoured though...

It may have taken the Suns until 2020 to beat WCE and Crows, IIRC?

Is there a website that lists such winning streaks, or dominant periods?

Yep, this one's pretty good!

https://afltables.com/afl/teams/allteams/streakstm.html

And team-vs-team results by date are there too (here's ours):

https://afltables.com/afl/teams/collingwood/allgames_tm.html

Longest current winning streak is jointly held by Richmond, who have beaten Carlton the last 11 times – they're also 12-2 from the last 14 starts and Port, who have won the last 11 against Gold Coast, and are 11-1 in total. Richmond also, as you say, had 15 on the trot against Brisbane until last year's qualifying final, and are 11–1 since 2013. So yeah, our recent record vs Carlton definitely isn't the best, but it's up there!

It's been a long wait to get on the right side of the ledger. The worm has turned. Keep building on that one game lead from here pies.

That's quite impressive uncanny. Lets hope indeed that we keep building on that lead.

Great chart, uncanny.

The turning point was 2002.

Lets smack the Scums arse !!!

We all have lives I swear too lollll.... but following the mighty pies is a great escape from all the worlds problems.

This....

Footy and Pies are the one of the things that keeps me going that's for sure.

I was watching the game at the Queanbeyan RSL Memorial Bowling Club when we won last night and believe me the beers and chinese and the footy soothed the soul.
