Collingwood won its first 7 games against the Blooz but, so far as I can see, has not equalled or bettered that run (which ended in 1899!), since. However, the 'Pies presently sit on 6-in-a-row, having not been beaten by that rabble since 6 July 2012.

Having watched Silvagni's "recruiting" strategy, there is a genuine prospect that Collingwood can beat that 7-game winning streak.

Perhaps we should start a book on when we will next lose to them (if ever).

I'm thinking it may happen circa 2023. What's your guess?

The Blues were somehow given an A for trading, because they landed a bunch of unproven or underperforming youths from GWS... meanwhile someone forgot to realise that they lost 4 of their best current and up and coming players, in yarran, Bell, Menzel and Henderson. Just think about that. It would be like us losing sidebottom, Elliott, Crisp and Witts all in one hit.

So the good news is that they'll still be shit next year and battle bisbane for the spoon... the bad news is that they'll prob pick up three more top 3 draft picks in the next three years, and may finally start to build a flag contending team of the future. I'll be enjoying the good news for a while yet though...

^ they also retained good first round draft picks. the players they lost were never consistent enough, possibly with the exception of bell. the gws players they brought in allows them to develop their youth and still be able to field a team. sos must know they have some semblance of talent.

Out of the four GWS cast-offs. it's perfectly reasonable to expect that one, possibly even two, will turn his career around and become a good player. They are only youngsters; they have all had form slumps, it is unreasonable to expect all four to stay in a slump forever. And it's not as if they cost anything. That trade was actually quite a smart move.

The Scum are years away from being a competitive side and they know it. With the car crash that was Matlthouse gone, they've put their faith in one of their own (Silvagni) to completely rebuild.
From 2015 the top goal kickers left on their list are; Everitt 31, Casboult 24, Armfield 13, Walker 12 & Tuohy 9.
They have no forward line.
They've traded out Waite, Garlett, Betts, Robinson, Bell, Henderson, Yarran & Menzel in the last 2 years, all of whom can goal when played forward.

The wash up - they've given up and gone youth, youth, youth. Kids from GWS cobbled with draft picks 1, 8, 11 & 19 & faith in Cripps, Buckley, Boekhorst & Jaksch.
We should slaughter them for the next three years at least.
Overall we've behind in head to head against them 122 - 125. We WILL overtake them in 2017.
But one aim should be to grab Patrick Cripps when he come out of contract - now that would really be a win!
Go Pies!

And we know that rebuilding can become an arduous task due to the inconsuistances of player development, attitudes, culture and injuries. I would suggest that we will be setting new records for wins in a row for at least the next 2 years and will hopfully set a tally they will never surpass.

They will be irrelevant for years to come. They aren't the only ones trying to rebuild but nobody is coming from as far back as them.
They even have salary cap problems !!

I think it's time we found a " new " old enemy.

They did that in the Mid 2000's and that did not Really Improve them that Much

Is it 3 more wins before we square the ledger on win/loss ratio?

There appeared a time in the 90's we would never catch them.

They had to do something. Their list is very weak and they need a full rebuild, and yet, in 2015 they had the third least games played by under 24 year olds in the league. Even worse, overall they were the fifth oldest team:

Games played by each age grouping in 2015 (weighting given to each group to determine youngest)

That's a terrible position to be in and the only option was to cut deeply into their list. The first thing you do is get rid of anyone who doesn't want to be there (Yarran, Henderson, Bell were no-brainers) and then anyone who might not have the right attitude and could get you back something good (Menzel). They will cut deeper again next year and I'm still holding out hope we can pick up Daisy for a second or third rounder Very Happy, at 28-29, he has no place on that team anymore.

Signing the 4 GWS players for very little was a sound move in theory. When you let go fairly experienced players for picks it's a good idea to bring in some cheap experience if possible, even when rebuilding. No one expects these players to amount to much but there is some chance that one of them becomes a player. The only reason all 4 were Giants was because of SOS, possibly compounding his error of drafting them in the first place, but still a sensible move in theory.
