worth repeating the sage words of a knowledgeable football judge from about a month ago:
what a mistake we made getting James aish. Overrated. Shit player. Wont make it. How many pages of threads on this fallacy.
WRONG WRONG WRONG.
James Aish is going to be an out and out gun for Collingwood.
He is not racking up big numbers just yet, but I have observed three things about him so far since he has come back.
1. My initial fear concerning his courage and willingness to put his head over it has been resolved. He has the courage and puts his body on the line when it is needed.
2. His vision is so good, he does things not many people even notice. If you look at the Blair goal in the last, the commentators praised Jordan De Goey for getting it to him. The real skill was the James Aish possession. His vision in super heavy traffic to put the ball exactly in the one space De Goey could do something was spectacular. His poise in traffic is going to be something to enjoy for years to come. A poised footballer who is just going to get better and better as he gains confidence at this level.
3. reliable by hand and by foot! Can kick a goal!
Patience is what the fans need.

Has hardly "arrived", but is improving game on game since he came back in. Starting to look as though he believes he belongs. Needs to spend time in the gym over summer. _________________ All We Can Be |

So pleased for him to see the gradual improvement he has made over the past few weeks.
Doubt he'll ever have a Tay Adams like body, but he's tenacious, plays a great team game (one player who has not forgotten the value of the shepherd) and has skill! |

He was very good today, his best game by far. If he keeps improving he may well be a player and I will have egg on my face. Hope it happens coz I love eggs! _________________ RED "BABY" CAVANAUGH: Didn't hear what the bet was.

I'll admit it once he gives consistent performances like today, but he showed me a lot and I'm not easily impressed! I'm looking for a 10 double yolk omelette with cheese, onion and a drizzle of HP sauce! _________________ RED "BABY" CAVANAUGH: Didn't hear what the bet was.

You have to bear in mind mate that he had an interrupted preseason and was coming off a bad season at Brisbane. All the criticism he copped during the first half of the season was deserved. He was crap. You could tell he had it at training. It was only a matter of showing what he was capable of on game day. Thankfully he is now demonstrating why we recruited him. As you say he will only get better from here. |

He will be better than Adams, don't worry about that.... well, maybe better is the wrong word, given Adams is the draught horse every team needs , but this bloke is silk, genuine silk, given the right atmosphere he could be anything.
Those who questioned him are poor judges of football stock, IMHO, signs have been there clear as day since about his 3-4th game in the B+W _________________ "The last thing he expected WAS THE FIRST THING HE GOT!!!!!"

Would've thought the slow starts of Ball and Jolly, who were seasoned campaigners when they arrived at Pieland, is evidence enough that it takes time to 'gel' with new team mates as well as proving your own worth, especially in today's strict structure driven game. Give these kids s chance, people. _________________ Est. 2002 |
