Witts was asked if he'd like to go to GWS as part of a deal for Treloar and he declined. Seems happy to back himself in the fight for the #1 ruck spot here. Can't trade a player who doesn't want to go and we're certainly not pushing him out the door.

There seems to be plenty of rucks in the market this season with clubs increasingly preferring to lure away more mature options after another club has done the heavy lifting.

Looks like we'll be hanging on to Witts for now but if he can't force his way past Grundy next year or Cox improves rapidly again he could be a nice bit of trade bait this time next season.

The complication of trading Witts is that we have to find a ruck to replace him with. We had a potential option in Kreuzer if we were trading Witts to the Giants. He didn't want to go and we cooled on Kreuzer after his medical.

Given that I'd think it unlikely Witts will be traded this off-season. We have enough players wanting out to get the Treloar and Aish deals done, so it's not necessary to move on a player who wants to be here.

The last time I heard Witts mentioned it was that he wouldn't be traded and had no intentions of wanting to be traded.

I seriously can't understand how anyone would think Witts is going anywhere. He WILL be our No1 ruckman and one of the better ones in the comp.He's 23 years old FFS.

The club knows that twp rucks are needed and with the end of the sub rule they are in more demand.

Cox may make it but the odds are very much against it

Yep. Witts/Grundy is a good combo. Pinch hitter is White if one can't play. Cox is in the VFL.

There are older ruckmen available, but I don't think the club will go down that path. (ie Jamar). (Perhaps we'll look at a back up ruck in the RD?).

The only movement in the ruck department I'd like to see is D Monkhorst coming in as coach.
