What would you say to the prospect of recruiting an extra #1 draft pick?
The good news: he's 24, he has no injury worries to speak of, he's played over 100 games, his club wants to trade him and we could probably get him for a second round pick or a couple of fringe players.
The bad news, his name is Watts. _________________ Let's eat Grandma. Commas save lives! |

Kwame Brown is also available to be our US import. at 6 10, he would be awesome. And he too is a number 1 draft pick ... heard of him. I didn't think so..... _________________ Ohhh, the Premiership's a cakewalk ....... |

He should consider switching clubs as it may reinvigorate his career.
That club of course is in the women's league but still. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

Tannin it's not as silly as it would appear at face value.
When he plays well he is ok
But he can stink it up big time as well.
I wonder if a change of clubs where he isn't the supposed messiah and he has a higher calibre player around him might bring out his best.
If we got him for a fringe player or low second round pick we could do worse than try it for a year or 2. Might be a handy hybrid forward type where he isn't the focus but the 3rd or 4th option
He wouldn't command a large salary let's face it his currency is at a low ebb |

Changed clubs twice and became a solid contributor and end up playing 180+ games. Sometimes a club just isn't your fit. Would Watts fit in our team, my oath he would. Plenty of question marks over his head sure but worth the risk. |

Not a fan, but there are many better judges than me who continue to say he has heaps of skill (something we need) & talent, it is just not coming out on field.
Maybe we have better internal infrastructure that can extract that talent? Maybe we can bring it to the fore ON FIELD better than the Dee's?
Play him on a wing and make him run and run and run. About the only position I can see him playing. |

Jack Watts is not a KPP, which Roos finally worked out during the season. He's also not quite a midfielder who plays out of the centre, which is a pity because his height is an advantage at the centre clearances. So question is where to play him, if not a mid and not a KPP? Actually he's a little bit like Seedsman, who has his ups and downs. If he could settle into a wing or half forward, that's where I would play him. He could complement Elliot in attack if Watts ever came to Collingwood. |

There are worse ideas bandied around here. In comparison to the Clinton Young, Q stick, Jessie White, Tony Armstrong, Jordan Russel inclusions, there seems more upside.
Roos clearly has lost faith in him. A swap for Seedsman and a 3rd or 4th rd draft pick would be slight overs and get it done! He is a classic "UTILITY" player with elite skills but a soft underbelly. However, with the "messiah tag" removed he may in fact emulate high drafted players such as:
* Brad Ottens (Cats Ruckmen who started with Tigers)
* Fraser Gehrig (Saint who started with Eagles)
* Scott Thompson (Crows player initially with Dees)
* David Hale (Roos now a Hawk dual premiership player)
* Both Josh Kennedys (now at Eagles and Swans)
* Brad Ebert (former Eagle now at port)
* Jarod Polec (former Lion now at Port)
* Jamie Cripps (was at Saints now at Eagles)
* Tom Lynch (Saint now starring at Crows)
that went on or are having excellent second club careers elsewhere. So maybe the Watts idea isn't as silly an idea. At 24 with a fresh culture and coaching group and an expectation to be a great "B grade" performer vs a matchwinner, he may soar! _________________ I love the Pies, hate Carlscum |

After we add Treloar and maybe a another player or 2 I'd doubt we'll have either the cap space to pay him what he'd want or the picks available to satisfy Melbourne. Would be a very handy player elsewhere as long as supporters could modify their expectations. |

Given we have saved $2,400,000 on Kreuzer we are bound to have cap space. _________________ I love the Pies, hate Carlscum |
