Post subject: So does Davoren get a pass mark?
|
After all the finger pointing last year, we now have a comparison 12 months later of our injury profile while still under the same high performance manager.
Obviously Freemans injury was the big disappointment for 2015 but that was offset by the successful comeback of Scharenberg, McCaffer and the eventual return of Ben Reid after a very conservative rehab program.
Marsh fully recovered from a nasty hamstring tear late last year and Darcy Moore also made a strong recovery after going down as if shot.
Davoren and his sports science team get a B + from me. He may have deviated from his original 2014 program or he may not have but the fact that 2015 was very light on for soft tissue injury, suggests that he got it right for mine.
Any thoughts ?? |

The injury list has been far better this year with Freeman being the obvious exception to the rule.
I'm not even sure if Davoren deserved the heavy scrutiny last year when looking back on it with the benefit of hindsight. Yes many of us including myself were frustrated and demanded that his job performance come under question but I do wonder how much he contributed to the heavy injury list we had last year in reality.
Even now I'm not sure if Davoren has contributed all that much to the leaner injury list we've witnessed this year. Yes it's very true that the soft tissue injuries this year have been few and far between compared to last year which is a good sign so obviously the sport science and fitness department must be doing something right. It's probably been our best injury-free season since 2010 which is staggering to say the least. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023

We coughed up a lung for the second year running, happy with the improvement on the injury front but there's no cup for being June champions. _________________ Defender...........

He gets a higher mark than the goal kicking coach. |

Same as last year.... no idea! Appears we have better fitness in terms of being able to run out games. Beyond that it's pure guess work. |

There's so much luck involved in injury rates that it's hard to judge any fitness manager on injury rates in any one season. Only an analysis over a few years, compared to other teams, can provide any reasonable assessment. Certainly this year we've fared pretty well. |

i was harsh in my criticism of Davoren.
More difficult to be so after this season's injury performance at least.
Freeman and Reid still very disappointing for mine. Otherwise, things have been pretty good on the soft tissue front. _________________ One team, one dream - the Pies and this year's premiership |

There was a post on some Facebook group about Davoren being sacked and replaced by the guy from the Wallabies. I haven't seen much of that about to suggest there's something more to that, but will be interesting. _________________ Ðavâgé

I know The Brumbies won't see any positive at losing the man that has turned them into the fittest team in Australian Rugby, but I couldn't be happier if it is true. Dean comes from Melbourne and I am positive he will make a big impact at The Mighty Magpies, and give us the same fitness edge he did for The Brumbies.
