Post subject: Poor Crowd Turnout Last Night
|
Was just over 40k at the Ground and I think Majority of them where Cat Fans.
I sat in the top level of the Ponsford Stand and was very empty. Ton of Empty Seats and same with Bottom Level.
Was Said to see us Outnumbered again.
Dare say more will turn up vs Bummers after our Big Win.

Friday Night is TV time slot footy, not fan friendly footy this time of year. |

Loved it. Had my pick of the Ponsford. Everytime I left and came back I was confronted with the decision of where to sit now. |

Disappointing crowd but at least it was easier to get into Richmond station and to traverse the MCG from gate 1. It was a cold night which did not help. _________________ Now Retired - Every Day Is A Saturday |

If there was heaps of room how come you were on the top level of the Ponsford Stand DTM? _________________ Sydney Collingwood Supporters Club

The fact the Pussies were red hot favourites too smash us, definitely had an effect for sure, well done to the fans who did go, absolutely. _________________ Poverty exists not because we cannot feed the poor, but because we cannot satisfy the rich.

I was in the air somewhere between LA and Brisbane. First thing I knew about it was when I checked facebook going through customs in Brisbane and saw we won.

Plenty of Geelong fans left at half time. Definitely contributed how empty it looked |

Well you had a Legit Reason. Not for some people who did not want to go because they thought the Cats would smash us on Friday Night _________________ I am Da Man |

I don't judge those who don't wish to attend as they have right to make that choice especially after making a financial sacrifice to buy a membership. Anyway it was a great night on Friday and it was more special being a part of the collective who ended up going to watch the boys live pull off an impressive victory against a team who's season was on the line.
The sight of the Ponsford End being half-empty isn't good but it's been a recurring problem for a few years now and despite the club's best attempts to address the problem at the end of last year it seems the current initiatives of the active area has not worked for whatever reason that may be.
A crowd of barely 40,000 is quite low between these two sides but clearly form plays a major role in this as these two sides were recording crowds of 80,000 plus in 2010 and 2011, and 75,000 and 61,000 in 2012 and in 2013 and 2014 we still witnessed crowds of 60,000 plus between these two sides.
However the crowd numbers in Victoria across the board have been a cause of concern for the AFL I suspect. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023
