I so want to go see AC/DC. Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden although they were a few years before my era (80's hair bands)
I've never been a fan of any but I'm concerned I wont get to see bands like this ever again.
I saw Deep Purple last year (I actually went to see Journey and DP were head lining) and enjoyed them. |

Of course, if you'd like to get almost all the old hard-rockers out of the way in one go, here's a reasonable opportunity:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1tsw3nKDlBE
The song proper starts at about 1m, 30s in.
Also, Brian May is a neat guitarist, as his work here amply demonstrates. |

Black Sabbath & Simply Red - two that should never been advertised together and just another reason to hate Essendon |

Just found a way to see my hair band heros in one or two shots as well - see monsters of rock cruises thread! |

This will take the bad taste out of your mouth:
James LaBrie and Dream Theater covering "Highway Star":
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gy1Rxjfinq4
The interesting thing about seeing these guys play "old" songs is just how thoroughly steeped they are in the technical traditions that brought us the great music of the "hard rock" era. Rudess and Petrucci, like LaBrie, obviously grew up playing and singing this stuff in their bedroom in front of the mirror - there is an authenticity, care and love in such renditions that anyone who can play these songs will appreciate. Performing "covers" of such songs to this incredible standard is an art in itself - the guys who played and sang the originals were close to the best of their own era, so it's not like running though an Olivia Newton-John number. |

5150, my son wanted me to send him on the "Yes" cruise (he would have been doing that one all on his own!) but, alas, it wouldn't be the same for him without Chris. |

By the way, their double album “The Book of Souls” apparently just debuted at number 2 in Australia. I was subjected to this in the car the day it came out - the boy liked it, I still have tinnitus (although that is partly attributable to the new Slayer album, as well). |

Good to see the Rolls has a good sound system. Is the chauffer going to lodge a workcover claim for industrial deafness? _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |
