Classic comment from a Guardian reader:

Why would anyone expect a bunch of lawyers to be able to manage the economy? Heck this mob can't even follow the law.

Nailed it!

Interesting comment, Shorten is a lawyer as is/was Gillard whereas Abbott actually studied Economics. Confused

Actually, he studied law and philosophy as well. And he's freaking hopeless at all of them. Did some loopy Catholic Church order get him to Oxford and then help him pass? Clearly, he has the George W. Bush Yale MBA of degrees, because he's plainly also a halfwit.

For someone who hates academics and thinks university degrees are a sham, you seem keen to accept the merit of Abbott's qualifications even though, say, Gillard would have 40 IQ points on the dimwit.

Any idiot can pass at any level at any institution once they get into it. Not everyone can get top grades, though. Abbott is one of the frauds who slips through and then becomes one of the idiot politickers at work both you and I can't stand!

He was a boxer, which explains how he got into Oxford and may explain something else pretty well too.

Just think: a few less blows to the head and he could have been the next Menzies.

^ Wrong.

Where do you get this rubbish from? Make it up? Oh, no, you are a Herald-Sn reader. I forgot. You don't have to make it up, the Herald-Sun makes it up for you.

In fact, Abbott studied law.

Both Abbott and Shorten studied arts and law. Their degrees are pretty much identical. Shorten, however, wasn't gifted with a dodgy Rhodes Scholarship award (handed out to Abbott despite his conspicuous lack of intelligence or excellence by the very same wealthy lawyer who Abbott later gifted with the union-bashing royal commission job). Shorten got a real job and worked. We all know what the Mad Monk did.

But although both have graduated in law, neither one is really a lawyer. Of the three you mention, only Gillard is actually a proper lawyer.

Pays to check your facts, Stui.

Lawyers are grossly over-represented in the parliament. There are roughly 120 times as many lawyers per head in the parliament as there are in the general population. (Counting qualified but non-practicing ones like Shorten and Abbott). A slightly out-of-date list of the lawyers in the Liberal Party follows: Tony Abbott, Kevin Andrews, Bronwyn Bishop, Julie Bishop, Steven Ciobo, Concetta Fierravanti-Wells, Paul Fletcher, Josh Frydenberg, Joe Hockey, Greg Hunt, Sophie Mirabella, Kelly ODwyer, Christopher Pyne, Philip Ruddock, Alan Tudge, Malcolm Turnbull, Eric Abetz, George Brandis, David Bushby, Michaelia Cash, Mathias Cormann, Gary Humphries, David Johnston, Ian Macdonald, Brett Mason, Marise Payne, Michael Ronaldson. Labor, unfortunately, has about as many.

Yes, they are a bunch of lawyers, and as we know, no, they can't follow the law properly, let alone make it.

I don't have a problem with lawyers becoming politicians. It's a decent qualification. But yes, some knowledge of economics wouldn't go astray...

Me neither David. I'd like to see lawyers elected to parliament in the same proportion as that they make up of the general population. Easy enough to do that. Of the 60-odd lawyers in federal parliament, just get rid of fifty-nine and a half.

^Development economics, international business, any science, health, psychology, physical and human geography, technology, urban planning, international trade, culture and gender - a specialisation of genuine world insight. These twits are not qualified to do anything but lie and weasel.

Just lost my post. Awesome.

Anyway, Abbott's results:

http://www.smh.com.au/federal-politics/political-news/tony-abbotts-oxford-transcript-released-20131125-2y6a1.html

Completed his studies at Oxford, did fine. Bachelor of Economics at University of Sydney and PPE at Oxford. Better than most people do, probably better than most Parliamentarians.

Anyway, who cares, nobody demanded Gillard prove her marks and Keating didn't even finish High School.

^I don't actually disagree with you in principle; I was just pointing out Stui's inconsistency. In my view, idiot is as idiot does, and Abbott does idiot far better than most.

Still, pretty poor grades for a national leader in pretty useless fields of study, given salience by his Neanderthal stupidity and unemployability in the real world. Basically, very average in one sphere, and a completely destructive disaster in the other.

Shouldn't he be packing shelves or something?

Those 'Average' marks are post graduate studies at Oxford, Clinton didn't even finish.

I didn't bother looking up how well he did in his Economics degree. If he is a truly average intellect then he's worked pretty damn hard to make the most of it.

A poor intellect, Wokko, no question of that. He simply isn't very bright. He does, however, have the determination to work hard. Good grades have a lot more to do with hard work than they do with intelligence.

I mean, if you're not as smart as Gillard and Obama, you need Keating's world insight. If you're not as charming and bright as Hawke and Clinton, you need Howard's managerialism and steadfastness.

This bloke, like George W., has nothing which qualifies him for the job in any sphere at any level, including the academic, business, career, technical, international, diplomatic or life spheres. He's a weasel in a weasel's paradise.

F$&#k him off ASAP and stop defending him inadvertently just to stick it to some pot-smoking pretend Socialist somewhere.

The NLP is responsible for gross economic mismanagement

That's a big accusation to make of Neuro-Linghuistic Programming.
