Redden is contracted for 2016 so it will require a trade and Brisbane may try to play hard ball and risk getting a compensation pick at the end of 2016 if a satisfactory trade cannot be made. However, history suggests that once a player says he wants out a trade gets done, _________________ All We Can Be |

At the risk of being accused of being hopelessly sentimental I don't want to trade our Round one pick because I want it to be used to draft Sam Weideman. It's bad enough seeing Liam Picken starring for the Doggies and I will be disappointed if Jake Kelly ends up a star for the Crows but I hate the idea of a Weideman not playing for Collingwood.
I remember watching Sam's Grandfather Murray play when I was a kid and he was awesome. Father Mark was rather less impressive when he played for us in the early 80s but apparently Sam is better than his Dad. If Sam is as good as some people say he could end up as Cloke's successor while Moore plays as the other key tall forward and backup ruckman.
We could get one of Aish or Treloar without giving away pick one and frankly we have enough good midfielders that we don't need both. _________________ Born and raised in Black and White |

I'd like them to draft Sam Weideman, all the same.
It's like Daicos' kids - if they are anywhere near the mark, you just can't risk them becoming stars in another jumper. |

Perhaps you're not old enough to appreciate the distinction, DTM but Kelly was a solid player (and a fan-favourite because of his "colourful" style of play) and Stewart a "good ordinary" one, whereas Weideman almost seemed to carry the Club on his back.
There are people who saw the Machine regularly and still carry on about the Coventrys and the Colliers but who would still pick Weideman first in their Collingwood team (yes, Dad - I'm looking at you). |

With all due respect DTM, who says he doesn't? The fact is that we don't really know so we make speculative guesses based on knowing bloody nothing.
Murray Weideman was/is a Collingwood legend. If Sam is 1/4th as good as Murray was, that will do me fine because he will still be 10 times better than Jessica White.
I totally agree with Pies4shaw, Sam Weideman is exactly the type of KPP/forward we should be targetting at Collingwood rather than run after good ordinary bloody midfielders with large cheque books open. This is absolutely crazy stuff and getting someone like a Sam Weideman should be a no brainer. _________________ Don't confuse your current path with your final destination. For the current generation, imagine we let Bucks' kids get drafted by Carlton or Essendon. Ugh. |
