Heard a strong whisper that the Dangerfield move to Geelong was no longer a done deal but unbelievably Hawthorn were into him in a bit way! At first I thought that can't be right, however given that Hodge, Mitchell and Burgoyne are all about to hit the wall and the end of their stellar careers can't be too far off then maybe the Hawks have still got sufficient salary cap space left over from the Buddy deal to entice Patrick Dangerfield into a ready made finals team.
To add some substance to such a rumour, Geelong are supposedly now heavily into Carlton's Henderson and West Coasts Scott Selwood so maybe they are also aware that Danger is not coming after all?
Scary stuff if he ends up at Hawthorn. Makes me wonder if Hawks could entice him away from Adelaide and Geelong why not Collingwood get into him and make an offer too good to ignore? Now thats a deal I would like to see!! _________________ Collingwood Domination. Envy of the Nation! |

Lol. Hawthorn might be in to him, but they have almost no chance of landing him unless he decided to go there on less coin than any of Collingwood, Geelong or Adelaide could offer. |

Geelong are only talking about 700-800k a year and then the Crows would match that, forcing the Cats to trade with the Crows to get him.
Hawthorn can easily afford 700-800k a year, Brian Lake is likely to retire at seasons end, and 1-2 others may also.
But it's more the hole that Buddy left more then anything, Frawley is the only big gain they've had since Buddy left and he's not on massive money anyway.
Danger to the Hawks, yeah I can see it happening. |

Dunno mate... if Lewis, Mitchell and Hodge have agreed to exit at the end of season 2016/2017 or whatever, perhaps they could manipulate the cap to back-end Dangerfield's contract to the seasons where those players are retired or no longer listed, thus have plenty of room to move.
On the other hand, that might not give them much scope to increase the wages of any up-and-coming players putting their hands up via managers.
Plus they are probably paying overs for hack Frawley too...
Interesting times ahead come seasons end... _________________ M I L L A N E 4 2 forever |

They've been into those guys from the outset.
The idea is that their imminent wave of veteran retirements (and possible trading of guys like Motlop) will free up enough space to get all 3, plus a rumoured bid for Matthew Leuenberger.
It's all about rounding up a posse to come down to Geelong and prising that premiership window open again, especially with a supposedly thin draft coming up... _________________ I am vengeance. I am the night. I am MagpieBat. |

The dawks just signed a deal with Tasmanian government for $19 mill over 5 years. They will be able to afford it. Never mind about the poor Tasmanian taxpayers on hospital waiting lists. The clubs the dawks play in Hobart don't get any mooney from the gov for going, dawks get the lot. I hate them _________________ kymbo |

If the Hawks get Dangerfield, the AFL will have to change the rules around free agency. My understanding was that free agency was partly sold to fans on the basis that lower performing teams could attract talent and thus not spend so much time in the wilderness. _________________ Four legged animals good, two legged animals better |
