I saw this kid today for the first time. I was impressed with his first three balls faced... All fours. He played a good pull shot and magnifent on drive as well.
I thought 'why isn't this kid playing for Australia... Not Australia 'A'.... Then I saw him struggle against the slow bowling of Irani and he played all over a ball that he tried to hit for six.
He looked as though he belonged though and I reckon he'll be donning the baggy green in the near future, he just has that prescence about him.

Michael Clrke has a great technique and all the other attributes of a test star. But he has one problem in that when he gets tied down he looses his head and tries to invent shots, which is what he did today.

Yeah, BJ, stacks of talent but I agree with Steve Waugh that he needs time to mature and bringing him in too early mightn't be the best thing for him.
I think he'll (if he continues to show form, of course) probably go on the Windies tour, for the experience of being amongst the established players.

The sooner they bring him in the better! I can't believe Steve Waugh said that! That's crazy! We need some young blood in the Australian team and this is the man!

Lets face it Clarke would never get an easier introduction to cricket than plaing Enlgand with Ashes series all wrapped up already.
I say play the boy now and give him a taste of the big time. What age was Ponting when he made his Australian debut ??
I would say bye bye Boof and bring in Clarke and say go out there and enjoy yourself

Couldn't agree more,we need to get the kid some runs on the board and there's now better way to get a decent average than an ashes series .

I think Langer is the type of batsman who bats well when under pressure when its backs against the wall. At present i think its too easy for him and he gets carried away and plays silly shots and gets out.
Langer is a valuable member of the team and im sure he will lift his game when Australia needs it the most. Plus i also think Hayden is at his best when he opens the batting with Langer. At present it would be the best opening combination in the world so i see no reason to change it.

I couldn't agree more with McGuane's 77 Bounces (sorry I don't know your name)! Langer has been doing absolutely nothing lately and should be watching his back! A good batsman is one that plays well all the time not just under pressure! Hayden and Langer are definately not the best opening combination as some say so its time to BRING BACK SLATS!

Sorry to gatecrash Slaterfest but lets get real. Hayden & Langer average highest as a pair than any other openers in test history.
Cricket is a team game and batting in partnerships is a key part of it. Hayden has been playing much better since Langer has been opening with him and vice versa.

I see Gilly is in your team twice. Now if that were to happen and he got to bat twice then we would be unbeatable. I would suggest however that you move one Gilly up the order a bit.

Good to see Clarke in fine form again on the weekend scoreing 79 (84) against a s**thouse Sri Lankan side. This time he seemed to handle the slower bowling much better.
