Nice to see that you have full confidence in them. Or would you rather play some other player who does "rarely win in the ruck"? Is Chris Bryan still available? |
Don't get me wrong, I think they'll both become good ruckmen in time, but if we are trying to make the finals this year I think our chances would be greatly improved by playing just Grundy as our ruckman. |

Gawn was better around the ground than Witts or Grundy, but I don't think we were smashed in the ruck.
The main area of concern is marking. Grundy and Witts combined for 3, Gawn took 6. |
Spot on. Marking is a weakness for both our players and a strength of Gawn's. Our blokes will continue to improve in that area though, so it's not a massive concern at this stage.
More worrying for me is that neither of our boys seem to be tackling or attacking the ground level ball with their usual intensity, which is their strength. Reckon they're both a bit out of form and possibly worrying about losing their spots to eachother. We should just tell them they're playing every game for the rest of the year and see how that goes. Either way don't trade either. |

dave, where else are we going to develop the two rucks? certainly not going to run bith of them in the vfl and let cox take the afl mantle. the two rucks is not about this year. max gawn has taken years to get to his supposed career best form. same with stefan martin. we have to persist with this set up. _________________ Purveyor of sanctimonious twaddle. |

You'd think that was a captain obvious, but obviously not.

I don't see why they can't be developed in the VFL.
Both Grundy and Witts have looked tired at times (and neither has played every game).
Why not alternate them as AFL solo ruck and in the off week play them as forward in the VFL with Cox and Greenhough as main rucks?
In the pre-season I had actually assumed this was pretty much what would happen as Bucks spoke about a "squad mentality". _________________ All We Can Be |

We gave up two ordinary rucks in Wood and Ceglar.
Spent years developing them and got nowhere.
Looking the same with these 2.
Should be like the Hawks just go out and trade or
wait for a delisting.
At least they don't waste time developing. _________________ we don't eat our own at collingwood we just allow them to foul our nest. |

Big Men Like Witts and Grundy take 5 to 6 seasons to dominate, get bigger and thats a fact. Give them a break they are young and learning, they will dominate in years to come it just take time. They are showing us great things to come for the future, get off there back. Who else are you going to bring in Gault maybe ha ha ha |

We said that about Wood .... just give him time...
That is the trouble with rucks it may take 5 or 6 years to find out whether they are
going to make it!
So go the Hawks way! _________________ we don't eat our own at collingwood we just allow them to foul our nest. |
