The 2010 team was very young relative to most flag teams. The problem with the list after 2011 was that even though it was still a good one it was judged to be unlikely to take us past a prelim. In hindsight looking at the players we let go and their careers since then the judgment was correct.

It is a shame for a team that won 20 H and A games in 2011 to not reach another GF. It seems some of the established players got too happy with the single flag and decided they didn't need to improve beyond 2011. We lacked leadership from within the established stars (not all of them, just some who weren't prepared to climb the mountain again).

Since we undertook to trade into the ND we have been decimated by injury. This is the first year the core of our best established players have managed to get on the ground for any length of time. Even so the introduction of a lot of our elite young talent we sacrificed to get has been interrupted by injury. In fact I would argue as I have before that the development plan has been delayed by at least a full year due to injuries.

It is only this year we are seeing the early signs of what the rebuilt list has within it in terms of talent. We are well down the current path and there is no turning back now. The list rebuild is almost complete and it is up to Bucks and the footy dept to get it to perform on a consistent basis.

A good summation perthmagpie. Our most recent results and game play have been very disappointing to say the least but it can be put down to a young team that is feeling the demands of a long season coupled with the issues associated with losing a number of tight games against good opposition in a row.

They need to now attack the balance of the season with renewed effort so that we finish this year on a high.

In my opinion we are only part of the way down the long path to the next premiership and these things take time. Patience is required and Bucks is doing most things very well and up the the bye was having a good season in many respects.

Hold the course is my opinion.
