A breath of fresh footy air

In a week overtaken by moral outrage, political correctness and social divisiveness, Collingwood FC has put out a short video that brings us all back to home base and reminds us what footy is all about.

The whole situation is out of control and in many respects the footy community and wider society is split into two factions. Goodes has certainly provoked discussion but it is all divisive. I suspect that in many ways he has got what he wanted and it is not the first time.

Irrespective of all the moral outrage and defensive gestures I am comfortable with my attitude towards others and I will continue to allow my moral compass to be my guide.

I'm over it.

As to "moral compass", that's all very well, provided that the compass isn't pointing, say, east instead of north. As was once said in a Monty Python sketch: "I’m convinced that the vast majority of wrong thinking people are right!”

It saddens me greatly to see so many of our fellow Australians labelled and tagged as supposed racists just so the PC set can strengthen their argument and undermine those who have a different viewpoint. The tactic of humiliating and diminishing others is offensive at the very least and is a very dishonest tactic.

I personally have a great deal of faith in the average Aussie. I think that most Australians form opinions of others based upon their interrelation, attitudes and actions and are not based upon the color of their skin or their ethnic origin.

I find the way this debate is being carried out by many to be offensive and from this point onwards I refuse to contribute further. My considered opinions have been posted and should be read and accepted on face value. For those who wish to twist and speculate at my expense I will remain silent but will view your speculative comments with the contempt deserved as there are no winners here and all viewpoints have been explained ad nauseam.
