Kennedy, Toovey, Oxley and Fasolo should hand their pay packets to the Salvos on the way out. And the rest of the backline half. And we have another player who will never get a free kick in De Goey. Head ripped off, play on. tackles Redpath who dives on the ground, in the back. No wonder Pendles gave that scump a serve. _________________ Annoying opposition supporters since 1967. |

Cloke/Reid/Moore combo up forward seems promising
Also means no White

Moore's kicking was very encouraging. Will mean a lot in the years to come having forwards who kick goals they are expected to kick more often than not!
We found out a little more about which players are able to handle the pressure with some key players MIA.
For me Kennedy is not worth the effort. He would need to be a ball magnet to make up for his weak kicking, however his pros are just not going to compensate for such poor kicking penetration.
Young guys are going to be up and down however we needed Faz and WHite to step up as guys who have been around long enough - and again they were missing. Oxley and Kennedy to be dropped maybe Faz and Witts to join them?
Witts does so little around the ground that the dual rucks is a liability.
At least Adams comes back in - he has been sorely missed the last 2 weeks with our contested ball taking a blow. _________________ Love us or Hate us... we are Collingwood - you can't ignore the Mighty Magpies!!! |

Discussion point - crisis time? Real or over-reaction? |
BIG Overeaction, few weeks ago, we as a young team too, played with that same passion, and nearly beat both dockers and piss and poop. Dogs had nearly their best team in today, elliott and taylor adams, not to mention cloke, are huge losses, hurt us a lot. Moore was fantastic, and Reid did well in the VFL, imagine Moore in full flight, next too cloke, with no jesse ? We have huge upside, though im as disappointed as anyone today we didnt win, we seemed to lack the intensity a bit we showed against the Dawks. This is not a crisis, no way known, this young team is going places, if you want a crisis, thinks of Caaaarlton. _________________ Poverty exists not because we cannot feed the poor, but because we cannot satisfy the rich.

It has been a high price, an investment in the future, but I would never had bet my whole pile on one player. |
I'm starting to worry about Moore. I think he's bad luck - we lose every time he plays.
Seriously, they've got to get rid of White - he just creates confusion among his colleagues because he has no football sense. Fasolo was hopeless today, but he plays OK when Cloke plays. I don't think White has a plan, doesn't know himself what he's going to do. Might win the high jump but doesn't get his hands to the ball.
I think Hine picked a dud with Kennedy - cannot kick. In Tim Lane's piece in The Age today is this: "Clarkson spoke pre-season of the specificity of his club's recruiting. Not every player who comes to Hawthorn is a perfect kick, but the Hawks only recruit players whose kicking is rectifiable. It shows."
And what is it with Seedsman? He was kicking beautifully but last few games he seems to be waxing with the crowd - confidence I suppose, or maybe over-confidence. Has done zip since Anzac Day.
Missing Beams in the packs and Heater standing on the last line - how many times was he the man back there to save a goal? No-one doing it any more. |
Really not sure why people think that playing moore in our last few games has cost us wins... Who else was there to come into the side that would have made a difference? |
It was a joke, Joyce. Hence the next word was "Seriously..." _________________ If you used to barrack for the 'Pies, you never barracked for the 'Pies. |

Question:
Why is our kicking so bad?
A. The conditions
B. Perpetual bad luck
C. Our recruiting
If A... get the long stops out for your boots.
If B...don't ever buy a lotto ticket ... you got no hope.
If C ...check out all of the "Hine is a genius" threads

Agree - how many marking contests did he win? None from memory. With his height he should be like Sandilands but he is not exploiiting his main strength. _________________ If you used to barrack for the 'Pies, you never barracked for the 'Pies. |

The two ruck experiment needs to end now, we just aren't slick enough in the skills department to carry two first rucks, especially if one is Witts _________________ "The last thing he expected WAS THE FIRST THING HE GOT!!!!!"

Very disappointing. I'm optimistic about our medium term prospects with players like De Goey, Moore (who will be a champion), Crisp, Maynard, Frost and others, but we are currently playing a few players who are simply not good enough if we are to improve. Our lack of quality depth has been exposed last week and today.
White (not a footballer), Blair (not enough impact for a dwarf), Kennedy (now I see why Bucks has been hesitant to play him), Oxley (only good as a loose man in defence) and Fasolo (more show than go) should all be up for trade or de-listing at season's end.
We desperately need to get back Adams, Broomhead, Elliott and Cloke, and to play on the MCG again. Win 5 of our remaining games and we still make the 8, but on today's performance, I can't really see it happening.
As I've said previously, if we do not make the 8 this year, then this season's performance must be counted as a fail. This is a competition. Ultimately, winning or losing is all that counts. I'm still a Bucks supporter, because I can see him developing a young group of future stars, but purely in terms of evaluating this season, if we miss the finals then it is a fail in my book. |
