That's a good article on the two different but same approaches that Stui and I mentioned.
The main critique of either proposal is disincentive to work, which is true of any welfare system. I would also add that if the nation allows anything approaching open borders or mass immigration then neither system is sustainable as they rely on individuals mostly paying into the system and only taking when needed, if someone comes into the country and immediately receives payments then nothing is gained. Again, this could apply equally to state run bureaucratic welfare as well. |
