Steve Smith's Test average of 58.53 is now the 9th highest, ever. And most of the 8 were wayyyyy back. The most recent is Graeme Pollock (1963-70) - second only to The Don, with 60.97
Smith's above Sachin, Sanga, Punter, Kallis, Sobers, G Chap, Lara, Amla, de Villers etc.

I never expected Smith to be this good but he's a superb player and he's definitely the next captain after Clarke retires from test cricket.

Long stints from Ian Healy, Brett Lee & Mark Taylor are making my ears hurt.
Mark Taylor becomes bearable when accompanied by Vaughn or Lloyd, but goes back to talking the same crap when joined by one of "the boys".
At least they haven't flown Slater over. Yet.
