Yes - very disappointing to see so many get set and none of them (Rogers included) really go on with it on a reasonable batting strip. It's really down to Watson and Haddin to get the score up to a more competitive total, with some help, but it's hard to be bullish about the prospects. Haddin's batting seems to be fading with age (as you'd expect) and Watto has made a career out of getting set and not going on with it - only 4 hundreds from 28 times past 50 (hence his Test average of 36.78 ).

There's still room for hope but the first hour of the third day will be critical.

It's a Test match. Much to be played out, yet.

We're now playing a different game if Watson was out.
That's not out for the last 150 years.

Haddin comes to the crease needing 164 to reach 0.
At that level, that was a pie. Unfortunately, we've seen it all before, wasn't hard to see it coming again.
Can't wait for him to hit a couple of streaky boundaries and then throw away his wicket recklessly.

You could visibly see the nerves get to Rogers in the 90's.
He's a man on a mission, he'll get his Ashes hundred on English soil, he's just a different man when in the 90's.
It's ALMOST a good thing he didn't get it in the first innings of the first test, that extra bit of hunger remains.

WTF was Smith thinking??
He'd just looked a touch rocky the over prior, then gets out charging and reaching at the off spinner. Lots to learn if he's going to be a long term 3. I think he will learn from that, it'll certainly be pointed out to him anyway.

And there it is.
He missed the reckless swipe though, only played back to a ball you go forward to 10 times out of 10 on a deck like that.

(I don't have anything against Brad Haddin personally, I just can't believe the positions he holds in Australian cricket in comparison to the cricketer he is.)
