What happens to Moore from here on will perhaps reveal something about Buckley's strategic intent in having him debut in this particular match against the Hawks.

If Moore remains in the team for the Port match we can assume that his selection was just about giving him development time in the seniors. Fair enough.

But if he's dropped for the Port match what does that tell us? That his performance was so poor that he doesn't warrant a repeat in the seniors, and against a lesser opponent team?

No, what it could mean is that Buckley saw a need now to start preparing Moore for seniors selection later in the year when we may meet the Hawks again in the finals. So giving Moore the game on Friday night exposed him to the Hawk defenders he will meet again in a future game - a game that for the Pies could be sudden death finals clash.

Whatever happens for here on, Moore will be spending a lot of time with the coaches reviewing on video his performance against his key Hawk opponents from Friday's game.

Has way more Upside as a Forward then a Defender.

He is a Potential Match-Winner up Forward

I'd let Darcy go back to the VFL, possibly for the rest of the season. He's going to be a gun player, and now he's had that big game experience, he knows what he has to do to build up his physique. As good as he is, he had the look of a boy playing against men on Friday night. With Grundy back, we'll have enough big men anyway.

Agree. I loved his aggression and his passion. doesn't take a backward step and is going to be a beauty. An absolute beauty. And I am going to love the way he plays.

but he isn't ready. Not mature enough physically and just kept get brushed off the ball. Any games he plays this year is with an eye for the future and not to make us a better team today.

Although I'd love to see Darcy keep playing in the seniors, (he makes me so excited!) I defintley agree that he looked like he wasn't quite up to the level of strength or body size to truly compete in the role of a forward. Hopefully if he is back in the reserves for the rest of the season he will have huge motivation to improve himself and get up to the standard he saw on Friday.

nothing i have seen to date suggests potential match winner up forward. that's not to say he might not be but there's not much to suggest it is going to happen any time soon.

Nothing wrong with a bit of excitement about his future, he may not have been prolific on Friday but the general consensus at the club and in the media is that he has loads of talent, so I for one am definitely excited Smile

Did not see him play in the Finals in the TAC Cup or U-18 Games last year Then.

So you think he is a Average Forward at Best?

But you said they he shown nothing yet.

Though he only played 1 and Half games at Forward in the VFL and got Called up to AFL.

Also trained all Pre-Season as Key Defender.

So I think he done pretty well really looking at that

We're all excited by his potential Dave but he hasn't really given any more than teasing tasters at this stage. You were very excited by his 3 kick 3 goal VFL performance, me less so and I certainly didn't think it worthy of a senior call up. Think that was more about senior structure than Moore's form. When he starts having 15+ possession 5 goal games at VFL we'll all start to salivate.

Well he did do well in VFL. Did he Deserve to Play AFL. Maybe, Though might of needed a few more Full Games up Forward at VFL 1st.

I agree Major Reason was for Team Structure and try and give Cloke more 1v1 Contests and that did Happen. Cloke did not take Advantage of them though Crying or Very sad

Moore Competed very well and that what you expect.

Just need to get a Bigger Engine so does not have to come off during Qtrs.

You can’t Expect many 5+ Goals games from him even in the VFL
