Trav gets to hear about a young 12 year old student who umpires in a
junior comp but this young umpire,s name is Amelie -yes a young female
umpire.
So Trav with parent and school permission surprises her and gifts her seats at Queens Birthday match and a 32 jumper
She gets to meet match umpire and goes out on field to bounce ball and
talk umpire stuff
Video is on Collingwood website and for me to see our players involved
with their fans--it was refreshing to see the human side of the boys
Have a look when you can

Good story. Need to do this sort of stuff to win a few future umpires over to the Pies.

that's a great story. hope she gets to fulfil her goals.

on saturday in the vfl we had a boundary ump in her first game. there was also a female goal umpire. if/when the women's league gets up we should be seeing more females officiating.

Nice story, be great to do a follow up in 10 years if things go to current plan. She's 12 years old and female so the likelihood is the plans could change a few thousand times over the next 6 years but best wishes to her whatever she does and kudos to the club.

Be interesting to see her turn up to officiate her first AFL senior game in her black mini with the white roof and Pies number plates, still wearing her no32 jumper.
