BTW two years ago a current AFL Coach said of Scharenberg " He is the best I have seen since Wayne Carey." |
I thought that comment was made by Choco Williams? |

It was. But Robbo didn't say current senior AFL coach. |

I say HELL NO. |
Whenever these issues come up I always think of St Kilda not taking Chris Judd becuase of his shoulders. |

I'd rather Scharenberg fully recover from his injury than put him into the deep end too early on.
He's going to be an excellent player but patience is required. We should be looking at him as someone who can play 10 or 12 great seasons for the club in the future. The future is more important than the present when it comes to Scharenberg in my view. He's a long-term acquisition that will be a star in the next four to six years in my opinion.
I doubt the club has any regrets about recruiting him. Long-term this kid is going to be an absolute gem for the club _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 | |

Exactly. This is definitely not a case of not being aware. All clubs knew Scharenberg had issues with his foot. It's why he was available at 6 instead of going top 3. We're of the view that he will recover and are not concerned he may not play much in his first year. If that is the only consequence of the injury, then we've very much done the right thing, because he does look a quality player.
Anyway, there is risk no matter who you pick. Freeman and Jack Martin had no initial injury concerns, but are now both on the sidelines.
On the negative side: we didn't seem to be too good at judging Daisy's foot problems last year . _________________ Well done boys! |

The clubs that had picks 1 to 5 need immediate success, that's why they passed on him. We were willing to take a chance, if he could come good great, if not then give his body the chance to recover. This kid will be great for a long time to come. |

I would say from 5 other clubs. 12 never got the opportunity to have a crack at him.
Although they might regret not getting the chance to I guess? |

That's fantastic news, can't wait to see this kid play. I was speaking with a mate who's cousin does some youth scouting for carlscum, and he reckons that is is only the injury that stopped him from potentially being the number one pick. In his opinion he is the best kid from that draft. _________________ Genesis 1:1 |
