Except, perhaps, that Sidebottom was one of our best players in his first game (a dreadful loss to the 'Aints) and laid 10 tackles and had 25 disposals (playing as a starting mid, in place of the injured Pendles) to be close to our best in a winning finals team in his 10th game, before he turned 19. In fact, by the time he was Broomy's present age, he'd played 62 games, including 3 Grand Finals and a total of 10 finals and been one of Collingwood's most important players (and better contributors).

Broomhead is a very fine footballer but let's please just give him the chance to breathe and develop, otherwise, the moment he has a drop off, the whingers will be out in force. Comparing him to a player who was an out and out star from the first time he turned out for Collingwood is a bit unfair and sets him up for easy criticism.

He has a similar game and style to Sidey… Steele is a freak and of course Broomy is a few years behind Steele - who isn't?

And who cares about the whiners? Let them whinge and whine if they want!

Fair enough - I just hate seeing the kids bagged before they reach their potential.

What would I use, HAL? A blow torch, perhaps?

That is a hypothetical question.

^^^ They are at training, reading our views, as we post them, DTM. I've heard that an internal review has confirmed that most of the injuries at Friday training are caused by players fighting with each other to get to a PC to find out what we wrote about team-selection the previous evening.

Grundy, for example, strained his neck trying to lean over the top of Clinton Young to read the screen to find out whether we thought he needed Witts' help to take on Mumford. (This is the real reason your parents always told you not to read over other people's shoulders.)

You mark my words - no selection review on Nick's this week will mean no Friday injuries, either.

If only Kennedy was afforded the same opportunities as Broomhead.

Sigh.

I would also love to see Kennedy get Full Game Time more at AFL Level

I'm more confident than ever that Broomy will make the grade.

Kennedy 22 games vs Broomhead 16 suggests he's actually already had more opportunities.

And how many of those games were subbing?

Don't know the actual figures but I remember Broomy being the sub on at least 2-3 occasions.
