Well, the plane for Brisbane is tomorrow morning!

A big night on the turps last night and I've woken up with a very sore lower back. Apparently I was dancing like Mick Jagger last night and I feel as old as him today.

Been a big week on the beer and Gunja. Smoking some quality stuff that gives you the munchies real bad. I haven't stepped on the scales but I would have put 1 or 2kg on easily.

Got a quiet day today, obviously a few beers and billies will be downed.
Pack my bag and outa here.

Almost ready to crash. Got here around 3pm EST. Beautiful room at Pacific Views, only a few k's from the start/finish line.

6 Coopers Milds. A few pints at some german restaurant near here. 3 Bundy & Cola cans + a cupla 'can bongs' 😂😂😂

Off to subway ....

Well, we're not far off now. Just under 12 hours til start time.
Rented a surfboard and had a bit of a paddle today.
Breakfast was a couple of weetbix, a banana & some cheese on toast.
We had lunch at Costa Doro Italian restaurant. A dozen natural oysters and a seafood marinara. Had 4 beers there and 2 more Coopers. Last beer was around 4pm. Just had another pasta feed and getting into the coke (not GC suns style, the cola type).

Hoping to run around the 3 hour 50 minute mark. I'll let you now how the plan unfolded tomorrow. Night Vic Parkers👍

Good luck Skids!

By the way if an old smoker such as I can do a 7 1/2 hour trek ( 20 km apparently) uphill in the thick muddy Ugandan jungle you can do this is in a canter Wink Razz

Ouch.
Was cruising nicely up until the 25k mark. Both feet started to feel numb and the blisters started to form on the bottom of both feet. Crazy pain, slowed me big time. The 4hr pace runner passed me with 4k to go. Cramps in both hammys and a calf had me cluching the barrier fence with 2k to go.
Finished in 4:18 ..... 20 minutes outside my PB. The kayano 21s let me down, never running in them again.
We had a feed and 4 schooners at the Southport SLSC and are now watching the freo game with a fridge full of Coopers pale ale.

I came 2044th overall (out of 6000 odd) and 315th in the 45-49 age group.

Well done Skids! I have ran one marathon back in the Big M days, finished in the time of 3hours and 46 minutes, was cruising up to the 30k mark then went considerably slower for the next 11 then stormed home the last km!
This was over 30 years ago!
