Well, can you believe it?! Entries for the 2016 GC marathon open in 9 days!

http://goldcoastmarathon.com.au/

The boys at work are committing again so it's time to start cranking the k's up again. We're hoping to get a bigger team together for this one.
I've done nothing for 2 weeks with my crook back (was going ok prior to that) and am tipping the scales at 99.7kg this morning.... ouch.

Going to take a different approach this year. Will cut back big time on the grog (after Christmas of course) and slightly on the hoota Wink.

Was disappointed with the time last year so want to get back on track for a PB (the day before my 49th birthday).

The goal at this stage is to be down around the 85-88kg mark and run a time close to that elusive 3:45. Let the fun begin Smile

Just capped off my first week back in training with a 10k run in cooler (35 degrees) last night after work. 38k's after 5 weeks off, most of them in 40+ temperature after 12 hour shifts.
Feeling pretty good, been drinking every night, only a few mids.

The big test is when I get home, Dads 70th on New years eve could be a blow out Smile

Most of the other guys are back into it too. We're looking at a few more joining us from work next year, a few coming along to do the half.

I'm the oldest and have been getting a fair bit of flak for my average effort last year, they better be on their toes coz I'm going to surprise them this time.

Great effort!!

I'll be picturing that training in the heat while resting on the couch for as long as I can get away with after having a very decent crack on Boxing Day!! Very Happy

Two more days on-site before a week off. Did weights and push ups last night. Tonight will be a recovery 8k slow run & Monday I might try and punch out a quick 6k.
Forecast is for 39 today & 42 Monday, love it Smile

My first alcohol free day for...... weeks??
Ran a slow 7k, it was still 38 degrees and I was stuffed from 2 previous shitty nights sleep. Had a tin of tuna, lots of water and was in bed at 1920hrs. Feel great today Smile.

Last day on-site, I'm on the 0730hr plane outa here tomorrow. Forecast is for 43 today, will probably do 10k after work and have just a couple of brews after that, can't wait to get home and see how much Pete has grown!

Pete's my dog.... the little Bully pup, nearly 4 months old now.
You work slow! Lotsa breaks in the shade, drink 6+ litres of water/day & plenty of sunscreen. You actually get used to it. We had one year where it was over 47 for 8 days in a row. I love running in the heat, just have to adjust ur pace, run more to ur heart rate & carry 2 litres if water in a camelback 👌
