At Stumps on the first day of the Second Test, Australia is 4/258. Smith is 135 not out and Watson is 20 not out. Smith survived a shout for a stumping off the last ball of the day.

How do you drop a guy that has just taken 6 fa??
The confidence gained grabbing 6 fa in a test match would offset any lack of a turning pitch surely. And it wasn't 6/4000 Krezja style either.

It's a bit like dropping Pendlebury for "team balance", isn't it?

The bowler has an injured hand I think.

I see that Bishoo was dropped by the WIndies after bowling brilliantly in the first test. Very strange.

WIndies 4/53.
Lyon has 2, Starc and Hazlewood 1 each.

Brilliant effort by Jerome Taylor to take 6/47 in the Australian first innings. Every one of the top 7, except Clarke.

6/132. Hazlewood has his second wicket (10 overs, 7 maidens, 2/11). Blackwood is 48 not out, Holder 5 not out.

That makes Blackwood (7 4s and 1 6) the second highest scorer in the Test, so far, behind Smith.

And Hazlewood strikes again. Blackwood this time (for a well-compiled 51) and H has 3/15. WIndies 7/142.

Johnson gets Permaul for a duck and that's stumps on the second day. WIndies 8/143, in reply to Australia's 399 all out (Smith 199, Clarke 47, Taylor 6/47). Lyon and Hazlewood 3 wickets each, Starc and Johnson 1 each. Blackwood the best of the WIndies batsmen, making an entertaining 51 before falling late in the day.

There were a couple of instances of the benefits of the review process. In the last couple of overs, Holder was given out lbw and, on review, found to have hit the ball first and the last wicket was a caught behind, originally given not out.

Aussies are Lucky that Smith made so much because no one else did anything with the bat

Clarke, Voges, Watson and Hazelwood all made good runs and shared vital partnerships with Smith.

Australia scored 400, not 250. Any time a team is sent in and makes 300+, they've done well.
