From the club website.

Oh, the memories....

Derek Hine, we need a new super fast, highly skilled crumbing forward that can kick 50 either feet, fly in the air like a jumping jack, bamboozle opponents & give the team & our supporters the exhilaration factor.

You have seen Jamie Elliot yeah? Razz

Nice flashback to the Davis brothers roaming the forward line.

A forward pocket that can get a kick in a final would be handy though. Wink

Loved the way Leon was used in 2011 as an attacking option from the back-pocket, his best year at the pies by quite a way. His one-on-one work was vastly underrated down back too. Left too soon......

I tried to get all nostalgic about him - but I just can't. I feel oddly compelled to repeat that which I posted at 8.05pm on 26 September 2010 (after I'd calmed down):

So am I.

But the question is not whether they were right to pick Davis to play yesterday. There was plainly a case for bringing him in, given that he had performed reasonably against the 'Aints in round 16, whereas he played a complete stinker against Geelong in round 19. I don't doubt the selection decision - I question the performance they got from the player they picked.

The question is whether Davis should play next week. In my opinion, not.

Even if no capable player were available, a cactus could be left on the field in the forward pocket to more effect. At least, an 'Aints player or 2 might stand on it and hurt themselves.

Yes, I know he kicked 1 good goal. But I would prefer a better-balanced side with 22 fully-fit (assuming there is any acceptable explanation for his continuing poor form) contributors kicking 15 to 18 very average, even boring goals.

I suppose it is possible he might kick 4 or 5 next week and win the game single-handedly but I will not be holding my breath.

All that talent - and yet he still had to be dropped for Tyson Goldsack so that the 'Pies could win a Grand Final.

Great highlights and thanks for posting WPT! 2001 was an exciting year for the club despite narrowly missing the finals considering the previous six years were all doom and gloom.

Also love the dreadlocks from Leon! Smile

One of my favourite pies and i regret the way he departed the club. When he was on he was phenomenal.

Remember this particular match very well. First time my eldest went to the footy.....great to re-live it. Leon was on fire... loved the dreadlocks!! We still miss Leon's precise kick ins after a behind has been scored, hopefully that issue can be addressed soon!
