<split from Johnny Depp thread>

But Johnny Depp should be deported just for acting in terrible films. |
Edward scissor hands is a classic, and cmon now, no one knows if he's really drunk as jack sparrow, he's magnificent as him.
Oh and how many of his movies have you actually seen? _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |

9, in total.
I also liked Edward Scissorhands, and he's also very good in Ed Wood (a lovely homage to the eponymous Z-grade '50s moviemaker) and Jim Jarmusch's Dead Man. But all three of those films were over 20 years ago now. For the love of all that is sacred, he and Tim Burton need to announce a joint retirement. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

You could die of boredom, but it's more likely that you'd discover some incredible art and get a new perspective on what movies can be once removed from the tired formulas of the Hollywood Studio System – and even, dare I say it, be entertained.
You never know until you try it. I've seen plenty of Hollywood films; how many non-Hollywood films have you seen?
(BTW, Arnie has retired! He's just doing another John Farnham comeback tour at the moment. ) _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

I've seen tons of those foreign and arthouse films and while there are certainly many brilliant and entertaining non Hollywood films there are far too many unentertaining wank pieces designed solely for auto fellatio among critics and self appointed film 'buffs' who are far too intelligent to watch those movies that the plebs flock to.
I suggest broadening your horizons with some Die Hard, Ironman, Terminator 1 & 2 this weekend and forget the gay french cowboys trekking through Greenland films for a couple of days |

Do European pornos count?
Must say some of your "art house" movies come in handy, yaknow when there's no sleeping tablets or scotch to be had!
As for Arnie retiring

Well, perhaps you can swing TP a few recommendations. I doubt she'll listen to me!
(By the way, I would never call myself a "film buff". I prefer the term "cinephile". )
P.S. "gay French cowboys trekking through Greenland"? _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace

You may need to be more specific. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Had a weird name, it's on the tip of my tongue (which might make be puke!) it was in a magazine about 100 films you should fall asleep to, ok, watch, before you die! Days of sodomy? Sodom? _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |

Me too, Dave. And I think that's all that matters: people should watch things that they think they will enjoy. But it's always good to push our boundaries sometimes, whether it be me watching Terminator 2 or TP watching some foreign 'arthouse' film that isn't Salo or the 1000 Days of Sodom, which I do not recommend to anybody. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace
